Bought 2 years like two thanksgiving ago. Barely used it. I'm thinking gonna buy something that doesn't require subscription since I use it only once in a while.

Any suggestions for photographers out here?
The 20gb plan will start right away since its considered a different plan than the 1tb one. Don't add it until the 1TB expires.

I have a current photo plan that expires in May. Can I buy this now and use it in May where my new subscription runs May 2025 to May 2026? Or does the subscription start at purchase and runs Feb 25 to Feb 26? I don't have a problem using a new email account.

The only alternative I found so far has been Darktable, but it is somewhat tedious to use. The interface is unintuitive, it crashes or stalls frequently, and the database seems to be prone to corruption. But if you don't mind doing some maintenance and dealing with those situations because you're an infrequent user, it could be worth the hassle of switching to it because it's totally free.
I made the switch a couple of years ago because - like you - I infrequently actually need to use the app. I get out and do photography a couple of times a year, and I don't tend to touch it outside of those times. So I deal with the hassle and instability and use the free app.

i got the one with 1TB in November last year for $95 , https://www.newegg.com/adobe-crea...6832505518. 1 TB storage is trash (for me) as I cannot use like regular storage. if i buy this today and apply the code to my account, can I start this 20GB plan after this current one ends?

Not a photographer but Affinity offers a no subscription one time payment for their software. $164 For three apps, I believe.

There are lots of options. I'd suggest searching around on photography subreddits as it's a highly discussed topic, so you'll have lots of detailed threads to read through.

For my own take, I used DxO Photolab for a while and really liked it. It has arguably the best denoising tool (and lens corrections), which could be handy if the photography you do potentially introduces lots of noise (e.g. a high ISO is sometimes unavoidable in wildlife photography). However, you can buy DxO PureRAW as a cheaper, standalone product if all you want is the denoising and lens corrections.

I know of plenty of people who also like Capture One. Never tried it myself.

Darktable seems to be the most commonly recommended free option, but supposedly has a very steep learning curve.

Ultimately, I've defaulted back to Lightroom. For better or worse, I just find it easiest to use and get decent results. I do have it paired with DxO PureRAW, though.

I have heard of Affinity. Might give that a shot. The other alternative I was thing about was getting a Mac Mini and just using Apple Photos to edit 😆

Great deal. This is currently the cheapest way to get the latest version of Photoshop.

a lot of the photoshop substitutes are lacking major functionality, like text capability.

To clarify, I can hold the redemption for this discounted subscription until my current one ends, correct? It's not going to tell me I only have X number of months left because I purchased it in February and won't need it until May?

Thanks for this! Adobe was implying the photographer plan would be axed on January 15th 2025. These carry overs from third party have kept it going and needless to say this discount makes it worthwhile.
