Good for the environment, saves money, always have batteries on hand, and they work much better in high current draw devices.

battery hookup has 100ct for $10 amazing deal for AA or AAA batteries. The box I got was 50% Duracell and 50% amazon basics.

Forcing you to go buy the batteries dramatically reduces the item cost, both in terms of raw materials and shipping/handling, testing, storage, etcetera. Adding a rechargeable battery pack would probably double the unit cost.
