Warning: The bitter coating can be a problem. In the world of small home automation devices such as motion and leak sensors, etc., reports are frequent that these batteries don't make sufficient contact to work.

Maybe the fault is the device not having contacts large enough, or something like that, but the same devices work fine with batteries with no bitter coating.

Edit: I see in another post (about AirTags) that Duracell changed the bitter coating to solve this problem. I still see recent reports about the problem with other IoT devices, so just keep it in mind.
It's a bit cheaper at Amazon for the 9 pack after $1.50 coupon and S&S:

I always rub these with hand sanitizer first, apparently that removes the coating. Works great for AirTags and such

Shout out to those like me who need these for their Dreamcast VMUs and for SEGA Saturn's backup battery. Got this from in-store before and they all worked fine.

I've read where they clean the battery with rubbing alcohol.

Yes…you need to clean these with rubbing alcohol to work in many devices (AirTags, vehicle key fobs, etc). I've had no issues after doing this

I had an entire pack from Sam's club, and I put them all into a container, well it batteries touch each other they can pretty much short out. When they're button cells I mean. So it's best to leave these in the package if possible

I've had really bad luck with these and bike sensors. I'll try to clean them and see if they work better. Good tips for cleaning them.
