I was about to pull the trigger on this when I read a review on Amazon which is extremely concerning. The review noted that many people have complained of rust on the outside and that plastic inside the cooler delaminated, rendering it useless. Most disturbingly, the review noted that there are many unhappy reviews on the Tommy Bahama website....however, when I went to the website, all of the reviews have been scrubbed. Googling seems to confirm the item had 71 reviews with a 2.6 out of 5 rating on the site before they scrubbed them. Buyer beware.
Will these be a bucket of rust in any coastal community after 6 months?
These are great coolers. I picked one up about six months ago in store for $99. If they are back in stock maybe they will be that price again in a few weeks.

Stainless steel shouldn't rust, that's the entire point of stainless steel.

you are aware there are different grades of stainless? Stainless is not rust proof, but has corrosion resistant properties. Some grades, like 304 and below will rust faster as it has iron in it (magnet will stick to it). I doubt this is made of 316 or higher (they will rust, but takes time).

301 stainless will have rust on it's edges in one season in areas where the air salinity is even slightly elevated. I'm not talking about direct salt water exposure either, just sitting outdoors 30-50 miles inland and it will start to show rust. Grades of stainless steel are critical.

Yeah, mine rusted after one season. I live right off the edge inner coastal waterway.

Anyone make a cover for these? I don't have a rust issue but where i want to keep it gets super dusty.

as I read on the comments this is great, I bought it for $99 on clearance. I don't think it is worth it on this price. but definitely is a good buy depending on you guys.

You could buy an A/C cover.

Coastal usually means saltwater. Saltwater causes rust for lower-grade stainless steels.

Have you never heard the quote "even men of steel, rust?"

Stainless steel will absolutely rust. It's resistant to rust, not rust proof.

I had a similar product, it was great for BBQs but did not survive outside.

I think the normal prices on these are either $200 or $300 (having seen them in-warehouse in past years).

We have one. It's probably 4 years old. No rust, but it's a terrible cooler for anything more than 4 or 5 hours. Very thin walls, and won't hold ice overnight. Overpriced bucket with a lid that you don't need to bend down to get a drink.
