Their prices on almost anything regularly beat out other retailers for the same brand/model. Amazon provides competition, but even Amazon outside of a sales promo can often get beat by Costco. They also have their Kirkland brand, which many of those products are higher quality than even name brand products. Sure, Ican buy Scott's crappy toilet paper from Walgreens or Dollar General cheaper, but I'm also getting a really lousy product. And with DG, a really terrible customer experience.

The only time you might be spending too much money are on premium brands and imports, where the other supermarkets are unlikely to sell a comparable product. That I can see as a valid argument, but also many people, including myself, don't mind spending a bit more for quality organics, imported Asian/European products, or fresh kitchen and bakery products that taste way better than the crap you'd find at Wal-Mart.
I used to work for Costco so I just want to give a bit of my input here .
First all off all these discounts are manufacturer rebates .( Costco only mark down clearance items ). 99% items at Costco have mark up averaging 13% 10-15% mostly except for greenmade products.
The prices you see are manufacturer cost*1.13, so if you see price increased it's due to manufacturer cost , not Costco increasing their % profit margin.
PS: I got fired at Costco
FWIW, using the price match after purchase at non-sale prices has been good to me. For example, I needed Cascade. I ordered it last week. On 3/5 it will be on sale for $3 off. I'll apply for price match online and get it. Viva Costco!

When I'm squinting and repositioning blurry images of a Costco mailer a few days before it gets to me in the mail is when I know I have a problem.

You are missing the whole point about shopping at Costco. Yes, somethings may be more expensive than at regular retailers (it's rare though) but who joins Costco for that? Everyone gladly buys a membership so that you aren't forced to shop with undesirables and the hoi polloi. The $130 Executive Membership is worth it just for this reason!
WTF? You couldn't possibly be more wrong. The best parts about Costco are the deals when you can find them and the quality of many products. The WORST part about it is dealing with the massive crowds, from the parking to the dodging of people all over the store to the checkout lines. I'd much rather shop at places that are less crowded, which are just about everywhere other than Trader Joe's. The problem is that their deals usually are not as good.

Can anyone comment on the chef man air fryer? Looking to replace the $40 gourmia because the grate seems impossible to keep clean
The trick I found is to not let that grate dry out. When I'm done using it, I just close the drawer. It can be a complete mess in there and I'll come back hours later and everything still looks like a fresh hot mess. MUCH easier to clean this way. If you want to avoid a lot of mess altogether, you can line it with parchment paper before cooking. I do this for anything that's "wet" or something I don't want to crisp up.
I've had an air fryer oven like that Chefman one before and it usually comes with a stainless steel basket. Not sure if this Chefman has it also but THOSE damn baskets are WAY worse to clean.

Yep. I like to say that I work so I'm not forced to shop at Walmart and Sam's.

Except if you live in a Publix dominated market like Florida. Publix sucks, even with sales. There non-sale prices are so ridiculous . Even in NYC I was able to shop the sales and save money but not in SoFlo. Thats why even as a single person I prefer Costco and Aldi
I do great shopping at Publix, although I pretty much only buy the BOGOs.
Although it's harder for you guys in FL because you have to actually buy two.
In every other state where Publix is located you can just buy one and it will ring up half price.

Wait you can price match online? How? I only know the old fashioned way where you go in with the old receipt, buy the item again and go immediately to the return counter and return the item with the old receipt. Too much hassle in this day and age

That's only if it's outside of their price adjustment window - usually 30 days. If an item is offered for less within that 30-day window, you can get the price adjustment at the the Customer Service counter.

I didn't know about the online chat option, but will definitely try it in the future.
