Be sure to research T-Mobile's locking policy and the fine print of the agreement. Basically you are locking yourself and the phone for 2 years with absolutely no way to unlock it, you can't pay off early, and you will be stuck with T-Mobile for years or you lose the bill credits.

See previous threads here on T-Mobile. They have become really consumer unfriendly in the last couple of years.
1) To check if your plan qualifies, log in and see if you have the promotion... verify by submitting your trade-in phone estimate. It's common sense. YES, most likely Simple Choice plan will qualify for this.

2) Phone cannot be cracked in the screen and no moisture/water damage. Also, cannot have destroyed pixels and dead spots. The back of the phone can have some wear & tear and cracks.

3) Best deal is to buy a Samsung S10 from eBay for your trade-in. This promotion will probably last another two weeks based on what they are saying from the subreddit.

4) You can get $100 Costco cashcard for being a Costco member. You can call or in-store. I've done both. I would probably call as it was quicker and just as simple. You also don't need to bring the phone with you. Just an IMEI. Just make sure the phone you are submitting qualifies or else you're going to be in a heap of trouble submitting the IMEI of a phone that might come cracked, etc.,

5) You can ship your trade-in phone or bring it in to a T-Mobile corporate store. Just tell them you have a phone to trade in... They will do basic checks and automatically approve your phone for trade-in on the spot. Saves you the hassle of UPS losing your trade-in phone during shipment.

Most of these questions have been asked... Just look at the old T-Mobile thread from two weeks ago.
Sprint would have free new iPhones with trade-ins with same 2 year commitment. T-Mobile also a few years back. This, their best offer, plain sucks!

I don't know if the rules have changed but I was able to pay off two phones early specifically to have them unlocked and was able to keep the bill credits. They were able to move the credits to the account level instead of at the individual line level.
It changed about eight months ago, if you check the promo terms now it will say "If you cancel entire account before receiving 24 credits, credits stop and balance on required finance agreement is due. Bill credits end if you pay off device early."

It was this way for many, many years. They once changed that policy to keep the bill credit even after paying the phone off. It's nothing new at all. Most people don't even care about whether the phone unlocks or not. Basically, all plans do come with some sorta international features already. Most who do care about having an unlocked phone buy it elsewhere. No one is ever "stuck". Lose the promo and break-free. Let go of the money and gain freedom. Easy to do.

Nothing changed, He didn't cancel the account, he just paid off the phone to get it unlocked.

You don't loose bill credit if you pay off the phone and get it unlocked as long as you don't cancel the line. I have done this before.

Why is bill credit a deal at all?
For someone like me who is never going to leave TMo, we have 4 x $100 + 6 more lines at $10 each so 10 lines for $160 grandfathered Simple Choice. It was 2.5GB data per line originally but a few years ago they just made it unlimited high speed up to 50GB. Why would we ever leave? Bill credits are amazing deals for us.

How recent? I think this changed late last year where if you pay if off early you lose bill credits.

You WILL lose credits if you pay off. It's clearly listed in the agreement.

Changed eight months ago, discussed on reddit. Maybe if you started a promo before the terms changed, you can still do it.

Just bought a phone from ebay for trade in. Anyone know how to submit before getting the phone? Ask for the imei number but don't know when I'll get it. I guess I gotta hope this deal won't expire before I get the trade in.
