Be sure to research T-Mobile's locking policy and the fine print of the agreement. Basically you are locking yourself and the phone for 2 years with absolutely no way to unlock it, you can't pay off early, and you will be stuck with T-Mobile for years or you lose the bill credits.

See previous threads here on T-Mobile. They have become really consumer unfriendly in the last couple of years.
1) To check if your plan qualifies, log in and see if you have the promotion... verify by submitting your trade-in phone estimate. It's common sense. YES, most likely Simple Choice plan will qualify for this.

2) Phone cannot be cracked in the screen and no moisture/water damage. Also, cannot have destroyed pixels and dead spots. The back of the phone can have some wear & tear and cracks.

3) Best deal is to buy a Samsung S10 from eBay for your trade-in. This promotion will probably last another two weeks based on what they are saying from the subreddit.

4) You can get $100 Costco cashcard for being a Costco member. You can call or in-store. I've done both. I would probably call as it was quicker and just as simple. You also don't need to bring the phone with you. Just an IMEI. Just make sure the phone you are submitting qualifies or else you're going to be in a heap of trouble submitting the IMEI of a phone that might come cracked, etc.,

5) You can ship your trade-in phone or bring it in to a T-Mobile corporate store. Just tell them you have a phone to trade in... They will do basic checks and automatically approve your phone for trade-in on the spot. Saves you the hassle of UPS losing your trade-in phone during shipment.

Most of these questions have been asked... Just look at the old T-Mobile thread from two weeks ago.
Sprint would have free new iPhones with trade-ins with same 2 year commitment. T-Mobile also a few years back. This, their best offer, plain sucks!

I tried calling the Costco Tmobile line and they don't answer. Say call back again later. Planning on going into the store tomorrow.

T-Life app will waive $35 connection fee if you do it in app. I am not sure you will get the fee waived in store. At least, Costco waives this fee all the time.

Is for new line only I think… I try yo do it on the app and nothing

I will answer my own question. I just did this deal on the phone and upgrade my iphone 13 to iphone 16e (128gb). It took 8 minutes for call to be picked up but did talk to the TMobile- Costco rep and everything went well.. qualified for th $100 Costco GC... effectively making the upgrade for free except paid $57 in taxes

This seems worse than just two weeks ago. It was $800 for their new plans and $600 for some of their older plans.
Not for Simple Choice, it's been $200-$250 trade in on iPhones for quite a while.

That's disappointing. I was looking forward to leaving Verizon for T-Mobile mostly because of that same garbage.

Happy with my 13 pro max on simple choice. Unless they have $800 offer soon, I'll wait until the iPhone 17 pro max comes out

If you want to go to the store, you have to pick a Costco that has a T-Mobile inside. They will NOT have your phone, they are only order takers.

I felt it was easier to say no to all the accessory sale requests over the phone.

Just be sure they email you the Costco gift card promotion link AND verbally give you the Costco code to redeem the cards before you hang up. My guy didn't do that and I had to call in again.

Link for locations and for 833 number to do over phone.

Nice deal! We considered replacing our 13's with 16e's as well.

Here's the things the 16e lacks over the 16 to help people decide:

1. No ultra wide camera

2. No U1 chip - used for precision tracking of AirTags

3. No MagSafe

3. The main camera in the 16e is NOT the same sensor as the main camera in the 16. It is smaller, closer in size to the iPhone 12. This means less light, so low light photos suffer. Yes it's 48MP.

Whether those differences are worth the price difference is a personal preference.

Title is misleading. This is not "any plan", maybe most plans. Select choice does not qualify.

None of those features matters to me. Really, I'd be quite happy to stick with my 13.
I am only thinking of doing this because it would be free (or pretty close to it), and it's very possible that the next time an upgrade like this comes along that Kickstart is eligible for, the 13 would be worth that much less as a trade-in. By upgrading I gain three more years of OS updates.
One thing I do get from 16e is 8GB RAM, which is useful for LLMs.
