Funny, I'm currently sitting in my truck swearing at this exact camera as it won't shut up..."Parking recording started" "Recording Started" every five minutes. Also, I have sensitivity set to the lowest setting, but every bump I hit, it's talking to me about emergency recording or something like that. Annoying as hell.
I have a fleet equipped with cams from several brands. Viofos are by far the most UNRELIABLE ones
I've had an A119 for about 3 years without a hiccup. I pull the SD card every ~6 months just to double-check it's recording properly. Never a problem.

I installed this myself (hardwired using the HK4 kit) in January, so far so good.

I am using a Sandisk High Endurance 256GB (not on recommended list) and using recommended settings on blackboxmycar for the A229.

The best tip I found for this dashcam is how to turn off the camera when parked in the garage at night. After parking, it will say that parking mode has started. Press the button on the far left once, then hold down the button and the unit will power down. In the morning when I start the car, it powers on automatically.

There is literally a setting to turn all audio off

Viofo DO NOT honor their warranty. They give excuses after excuses as to why it's YOUR fault

Why do you have to press buttons when the parking mode is auto starts?

I'd rather have 2 independent cams so that I have 2 independent SD cards.

In the morning when I leave the house, the dashcam turns on when I start the vehicle. When I park, parking mode is enabled automatically. When I start the vehicle, parking mode is disabled automatically. When I get home and park in the garage, unless I turn off the dashcam the parking mode is enabled automatically. I don't need parking mode to be enabled overnight while parked in the garage, so I turn off the dashcam by pressing the left button, then holding it in to power off the dashcam. Rinse and repeat.

I would love to have a parking mode schedule that could be disabled between 10pm and 7am. 😁 Sure I could leave it running all night in parking mode, but a simple button combo works.

My A119 has been great, hardwired it. I don't have a rear camera mostly because I have a cheap ass car.

Use endurance microSD cards for dashcams.

Mine says "video protected" too often (maybe once every one or two hours of driving) but it's not too bothersome since I don't drive that much. I occasionally just delete all the saved videos to clear the space. But I'll look at other brands if I need to get another dashcam.

Oddly enough, the cheap ones have been the best. Vantrues have been ok, but the workhorses are the discontinued YIs. I'm not sure how 8-year-old $40 dash cams are still outpacing the modern ones in image quality AND reliability, but here we are. It's a shame they're not available anymore
I also have an old Yi that's still going strong after a battery replacement.

Way better audio quality than Viofos too, so I actually prefer it when recording V8 rental car shenanigans

It's the SD card. These things are picky as hell about SD cards and they actually have a recommended SD card list, which is ridiculous. It's probably because they record at a higher resolution and bitrate than the more reliable older dashcams. That is no excuse, however.

I'm pretty sure this is the one recommended by Wirecutter for one of the best dash cams you can get on the market

Never had a dash cam before and considering getting one. Is this compatible with any car? I have a 2019 Camry SE
