HVAC filters are not meant to filter the air in your home. They are meant to protect the unit. Get an air purifier.

I can tell you from a few years experience using this very filter and this very same size these are well built not flimsy, the don't fold over in your hand, and the cardboard frame around the filter material is strong. Never had an issue with these HDX brand.

This filter is this model right here (just in a 3 pack offering).

Notice different brands will use different terminology in regard to the size and type of particulates their filter will catch. FPR 5 = MERV 8 at least in the HDX brand.

There is no "regular" price indicated and I am surprised there are so few reviews of these filters. I wonder how flimsy they are.

They have 3-pack for $14. You can always go to store and see it.

The 3-pk mentioned below is what I purchased a couple of months back for $13, which is regular price. So, 12-pk comes out to be cheaper rather than 4 3-pk.

It is quite decent. Don't need to hunt for deals if it is priced at this range normally.

Go for 1 inch and your unit should have dedicated slot for both width sizes (1 inch and 5 inch). Just order this item, then check the unit in attic, if it has no 1 inch slot, return the item
OOOOOrr, just trying to use some common sense here; You could check for the 1" slot FIRST, and avoid wasting time with needless orders and returns.
Plus I'm pretty sure you don't have a slot for a filter the manufacturer does not recommend.
Just sayin'

Where you getting 20x24x1 at $3.95 each? I see $4.66 each for the 3 pack. The 12 pack is 20x25x1 at $3.50 each

You might want to check your size in the 3-packs. The exact same filter is available in my size @ $9.96 for a 3-pack. So 12 filters are $39.84

Check my post right below yours. Assuming you need the x25 which is OOS. It's cheaper and available in the link.

It's nice, but I kind of wish I had the Merv three or four or something

my air conditioning unit is limping along from 2000, and I feel like anything more than a spun fiberglass puts it in its death throws

FWIW the lowest grade available are mostly under $3. Regular price & you just have to buy 1.

Mine does. Recommends a 16x25x4 but has a slot for the 16x25x1.

Agree about checking before ordering.
