One of those things where when you need it you'll know. I've used one to lift telephone poles off the ground, pull fallen trees that are hung up, extract my jon boat when it sunk, extract vehicles stuck in snow and other similar situations. If you're the type to own a generator or a chainsaw "just in case," this is another little secret weapon to help negotiate life's little (or big) "oh crap" misadventures.
Picked up one, and they let me use the 10% off any item coupon ... so $7.19

Normal price is 24.99 but still a great deal.

Looks like this discounted model is an older design with a 3/16" cable. The one available for purchase online for $42.99 has a more robust 1/4" cable. Whether that is necessary for what you need is up to you. (In my experience, it probably isn't).

The $42.99 model: https://www.harborfreight.com/400...69855.html

This is purely anecdotal, but I would pass on this, at least for anyone pulling even remotely close to the strength rating. I was using one to pull bushes, and the teeth sprung. Look for a better built one with solid gears instead of the layered metal plates like this has. A little bit more money is a small price to pay compared to a hurt back.

I've used it for pulling stumps out of the ground.

Here's what ai says:

Key applications of a power puller:
Vehicle recovery: Pulling stuck vehicles out of mud, snow, or ditches.
Construction work: Aligning beams, pulling heavy objects into position, tightening cables
Landscaping: Moving large rocks, pulling tree stumps, straightening fences
Boat maintenance: Anchoring a boat, pulling a boat onto a trailer
Industrial applications: Pulling heavy machinery, repositioning large equipment

Great use for these is stretching fence. If you are building a livestock fence these are priceless. Excellent deal if you can find it.

It appears the HAUL-MASTER 2000 lb., 1 Ton Capacity 10 ft. Cable Winch Puller [harborfreight.com]has the same specs and uses the same stock images (minus label) as this now "discontinued" 4000lb., 2 Ton Capacity Model.

I wouldn't have a wife like that...I wish I could sympathize with your situation but I can't...

Maybe they're offloading these because the cable can't keep up with the full two tons. Most uses won't come close to that much torque on it, in my experience. I've never broken one and have gotten out of some sticky situations with them before.

Exactly Correct, dont use to pull close to max strength. Not ideal to have gears not working fluidly when under pressure. Fine for general use just be careful.

I've had one for maybe 10 years. If the current one is built like the older ones, its well made for occasional use.

FYI, my store near me showed in stock. Drove there and they could not locate this. They had plenty of the newer $42.99 ones.

I bought one that lasted less than a year. I'll use Harbor Freight for some things, but I'd stay away from these.
