They won't last if you treat them like a regular hose.

Leaving them outside on a hose reel, leaving them pressurized, or not unrolling them fully each time is where most people go wrong.

UV exposure, temperature changes, and kinks aren't good for regular hoses either, but they're way more detrimental on a hose that has to expand each time it's used.
What I find helps tremendously with the extra care required is getting quick disconnects.

That way, you don't have to unscrew the hose each time. It also helps cut down on leaks at the spigot, since you aren't constantly torquing down on the washers.
Searched up some reviews on Reddit and pretty much every one mentioned the hoses springing leaks after a couple of months or the fabric tearing etc. Doesn't seem like a great product, which is a shame as I'd love something this compact

Doesn't that mean that a 'regular hose' is better? I've always thought so.

No, it means you simply have to operate each hose to its strengths.

What would be the 'strength' of a hose you have to 'handle with care'? I leave my contractors grade hose rolled up on a hose reel in all weather an have no issues with it when I use it.

These are all trash. I haven't had one last me more than a season - and I've purchased many. A great idea but the technology isn't there yet.

I have 2 and been using them for 3 years no issues. You just have to treat them nice

These are decent if you need an occasional light use portable hose and take care of them properly. I use them to take to rental properties for maintenance work.

That said, if you want the most durable hose ever, buy a rubber craftsman hose. I have 6 rubber craftsman hoses that have been left out in the Florida sun since 2012, some pressurized. Not a single problem, all still work like new. I've only had to repair them after running them over with the lawn mower because I forgot they were outside and the grass grew over them 🤣.

I have one of these. It leaked in two months. The leak would be pinholes. however I'm still use it with the leak because it is extremely lightweight and easy to store. I just shutoff from the spigot after use.

Shouldn't be any news, but there is significant pressure drop with any of the expandable hoses. Decent burst of water when nozzle first opened but then the flow really tails off. The Zero-G hose, while not as compact, work much better.

I shrunk mine after every use, and kept it covered in hose box in a shaded awning area, lasted 1-1/2 seasons before it burst

Laziness?

You can read through this thread and find people who are definitely just turning off the spigot and walking away.

Clearly this hose isn't for you.

Why are you here?

That's the thing with these. Have to baby it. It's kinda annoying. Don't leave out, put it away after each use. Don't leave outside in cold etc etc. works great until it doesn't. Even the steel ones work great until is doesn't. Buy it and expect to replace then you may not be disappointed.

From my experience with multiple brands of this type of hose, they last 1 season at best. They are super convenient and nice to use until they spring a leak, so it's a good thing this is a 2 pack. And after reading the comments here, I did leave mine out in the sunlight not realizing an outside hose needed to be protected from the sun or it will leak in a month, so maybe you get more mileage if you keep it covered in some way.
It's not on sale, but I got this hose https://www.homedepot.com/p/Goril.../326126404 and have been very happy with it. It's lightweight, it does not kink easily and has lasted multiple seasons out in the sun. I bring it in for the winter, otherwise, I treat it like an outside hose and hang it up where the sun hits it and don't worry about it.
