There are several strong groups for support and there is a klippermod as well, Including 1 or 2 that are actively working on bettering the experience.
On paper the Elegoo is better because the build area is about 30mm bigger per side. I think it can also go a bit hotter.
A nice feature of this printer is you can print an enclosure with a kit for about $50 (kit+filament). However it won't have active chamber heating or filtration.
I'm not sure if the open frame Elegoo can be made enclosed for so little but why bother when the factory enclosed model is $100 more. The factory enclosed FF is $380 using this same deal.
I think both look good but if you aren't in a hurry, wait and see on the Elegoo. If you are get this because the Elegoo won't ship for a bit.

Being this is at least a year old it is proven and Flashforge has been around longer than Elegoo. I saw some one concerned with Elegoo dropping their support of an older printer and leaving people high and dry.

You'd have to be insane to preorder a 3d printer in my opinion

Should wait for the reviews I'm guessing.

And with all that said, I agree that if you're not in a rush, I'd wait too. The Elegoo is positioned to dramatically change the market.

But you are kind of hitting on my point. While $50 allows me to enclose my 5M, the enclosure isn't as good as a true factory enclosure with filters etc. FF does offer a properly enclosed version of the 5M, (5M Pro) but it's $140 more than the 5M. Elegoo doesn't offer a DIY enclosure option (at least at this time) but with the relatively small $100 premium for the enclosed model I can't see trying to save the money.
