For anything greasy or heavy I still think a wire wheel on an angle grinder is better. These pads will gum up with grease as any scotch brite type pad will. However they will excel at surface rust, mill scale etc.
Def a unique tool though and one I'd buy and feel okay about it not having a purpose.
I got one in the December sale and I thought it was a steal at $75

I have this one and my buddy has the Eastwood. We have used them both on the same car, interchangeably. (We grabbed whichever one was closer) These are every bit as good as Eastwood.
I tried to get another yesterday but they were out of stock. I was told they will get more over the next couple months as they work out of the system.
I'll get 2 more if I can.
I have noticed they can get hot when used for a longtime and that becomes uncomfortable plus the drums don't work as well. I'd like to have a couple around d to swap out.
These are great if you want to tear things up quickly. It's a heavy unit which is good for stability depending on where you are using it. (I use for auto restoration so flat areas / roof / hood are awesome, doing the sides it can get pretty hefty)
This is a metal working tool not a wood working tool.
Pull the stairs and tack strips then use a scraper or putty knife for the carpet pad.
You want to be careful with aggressive tools like this because it's easy to gouge wood and damage the surface.
