Someone tell me about this printer. I have never owned a FlashForge printer. Love the filament.

Seems pretty okay based on reviews. Its build plate is smaller than a lot of other modern printers, but it is inexpensive. Just realize the build plate size might be a limiter for you. The "typical" build plate size I'd say these days is 256x256 mm. This one is 220x220. It doesn't seem that much smaller numerically, but I can tell you lots of designs use 256x256 (since that's what the Bambu "regular" printers use). I don't have this, have never used it, but generally people seem fairly positive on it. For the price I suspect it's a pretty solid deal as an entry level printer, but it won't be as easy to start with as a Bambu P1S. Of course the P1S is quite a bit more. The P1P is unenclosed but is quite good too, but it will also be more. So yeah. Kinda depends on what you value. Seems like a really solid deal, I just worry the average person might feel cramped on that build plate pretty fast.

Yeah that plate size is a no go. I just got the Elegoo Centauri Carbon and it allows me to use my Bambu Labs plates on it. I heard this printer is faster than the Elegoo, but the size… can't get past it.

For this price, I'd look at the new elegoo pre-order.

This is a very good printer. It would be interesting to compare it to the Elegoo. The build area is a bit smaller but I'm not sure how often the extra 30mm per side is critical. I suspect more often if 220x220 isn't enough you really want to go for 300+

The 220x220 is basically the old "standard" size build plate used on the Ender 3 and many other printers. Lots of options and support for that size. However the 255x255 Bambu size is clearly becoming a new standard as several companies are making their printers work with BL sized build plates, Elegoo included.

The open from version of this printer and the Elegoo are basically the same price once shipping is added to the Elegoo. This one is more expensive than the enclosed Elegoo. I'm curious what the difference are (other than plate size). One pro of the FF 5M Pro (and 5M) is the bed leveling is fast. It's not a big deal to run it before most prints. I use it frequently because I've got several build plates. Every time I change plates I also run the bed leveling. The Elegoo leveling is slow, something like 15min. Not a big deal if you only use 1 plate but annoying for me. One other plus for this printer, I think it comes with both a 0.4 and 0.6mm nozzle out of the box. It also has a good fan system that can stick air out of the build chamber or recirculate it (both with filters) depending on a desired change temperature. I'm not sure what the Elegoo offers there.

My take is: if you want to spend money today, well I would do this vs Elegoo since it's a known system. However, if you can wait, wait and see what real users think of the Elegoo. It looks really promising and it's advantages might be more than just 30mm per side.

This is back in stock and available for $8 more than the OP's deal. Apply FLASH3D20US for $20 off and STARTFRESH for 20% off of $499 = $383.20 before tax.
