Sony learned from Nintendo that if they produce crappy controllers, they can make more money. So they're essentially forcing our hand, since they won't service them
Kudos to Nintendo for fixing for free

My Sony controller history is a good amount of data for people to compare their histories with. My controllers were not abused or accessible to children or pets. I feel the PS5 one was a factory lemon. Never had a controller have an issue that fast.
PS1: never experienced drift, console used a lot for over a decade, owned one controller. Still working.
PS2: never experienced drift, console used a lot for over a decade, owned two controllers. Still working.
PS3: controller started drifting after 2 years, console used a lot, owned one controller. Replacement controller never drifted after years of consistent use. Still working.
PS4: never experienced drift, console used a lot for 2 years, owned one controller. Sold console current status unknown.
PS5: Controller started drifting after 2-3 months, console not used much. Replacement controller ok so far a couple months. Console used a lot after replacement.
