Hydraulic disc brakes means maintenance will be needed for them regularly. Whether it's brake fluid change/top off or changing brake pads/discs when necessary… it gets annoying and costly! Especially if you don't do it yourself.
Having owned a few different PEV's, I would highly recommend sticking to the maintenance free route if you're using it strictly as a commuter.
Definitely not for beginners though.
