Seems like this deal is better if you're going the Arris route and willing to spend a little more...

OP I would mention this does not have an integrated cable modem for those who commonly associate the arris (surfboard) name with cable modems.

Thank you. I was hoping to replace my aging cable modem, but this is just a WiFi router.

It's got weak range, and you can't add extra nodes to it unfortunately. I bought 2x 2 packs thinking I could mesh them altogether. Nope, in their infinite wisdom their idea of mesh is one parent, one child unit.

In my personal experience as a professional IT consultant, Arris cable modems have been very solid (with few exeptions *cough* intel *cough*) and my go to brand. That being said, their wireless solutions have always been terrible. Performance, Reliability, Range has generally been lackluster compared to standalone solutions like Asus routers.

TLDR, I would stay away from Arris wireless solutions, but get their cable modems.

Both overpriced the previous Linksys 8503 wifi6E mesh with two satellites for $79 was the best deal.

Not like you'll be able to get that deal again. And honestly support for the 8500 was stopped 3 years ago, last firmware was 4 years ago. Decent hardware, awful support and software. Although this arris is pretty awful as well.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but any good recommendations for 1GB modem and router for Xfinity service?

Hitron Coda56 for cable modem with the 2.5G port so you can pick the wifi mesh system you like.
