eh this "holier than thou" approach is a bit extreme and i think overlooks how this potentially exposes new readers to Watterson's work; those that may not be seeking out physical copies nor know of its existence. are physical copies better? for those of us raised on actual books, sure most likely, but to newer generations, it's far more likely for a kid to come across something through a family member's kindle or digital library. does Watterson approve? prolly not. but as long as Calvin and Hobbes lives on through the hearts and minds of future generations, i'm all for that.

it's better to have read an e-reader version of Moby Dick than to never have read Moby Dick at all.
Getting this as an e-book kind of takes all the soul out of Watterson's work.
seeing that cover brings back such a warm blanket of memories staying up later than i was supposed to reading it with a flashlight in my bed

I bought this 10 years ago. Weird how it's formatted only for the color kindle, when I was able to read it previously. Slightly annoyed that they seemed to "update" the comic in a way that breaks it for older devices.

Why cut down renewable trees when we can create horrible e-waste instead?
What e-waste?

You telling me you don't have an existing device that can use Kindle?

You know the device you used to type on as a reply to me. Pretty sure you're not a caveman.

I have the several chunky copies at home but will pick this one too... The thought of pulling out a tablet on a long flight and reading C&H in a dimly lit window seat sounds appealing.

FWIW, from the Amazon reviews:

"C&H is always fantastic and this book has some of the funnier strips. But the Kindle version is terrible. The strips are stretched out and distorted (at least on iPad) and rotated 90 degrees (and rotating the iPad doesn't help because then the image rotates too, you have to use the rotation lock)."

Still one of the greatest cartoons of all time! If you're the parent of an infant boy, this could be used as a training aid, for what you might expect in the coming days!

FYI, if you Facebook, C&H has a presence on there, along with a handful of fan pages that routinely post the old cartoons. Even 40 years later, they still put a smile on my face. worship

So weird. It looks fine on my iPads.

So I went to position 169, which is what your image shows and it's fine. It's also a different strip than what yours shows. Also, your iPad says the book has 0 pages. I think you might be having a device issue/account issue. The book works fine on my 12.9" and 14" iPad Pros and on my iPad mini 6.

Besides, why do we need to cut down trees and clutter our home. Digital is convenient.

I get that there something about holding and reading books, but digital is a good option too.
Everyone resists going digital until they have to move.

Especially into a HCOL area. I have a number of books, but they are very selective.

I'm talking about people who buy every new kindle that comes out. And toss the old ones in the trash when they get a tiny little cut on the screen.

No ones buying a comic book on a < 5" screen.

What does that have to do with my comment?

Yes, because the soul was in the original medium of blurry prints on disposable newsprint.
