Osaka and Kyoto are very crowded normally. World fair will make it double or triple the normal amount. I was just recently in Kyoto during the weekday and it was a mad house. Great price tho.

In my opinion, its the perfect time to go. The turning of the autumn color should be more vibrant and temps are about 50-60F.

A lot of countries come together somewhere in the world every 5 years and show off cool stuff. The theme for the 2025 Expo in Osaka is "Designing Future Society for Our Lives". A lot of countries haven't revealed what they're doing yet but so far there is a lot of AR and VR, plus stuff like VTOL personal transportation that people will be able to experience. Normally It's a great visit since you can experience many different countries and see some good tech or shows at the same time. There will be a lot more details out on what you'll be able to see in late April after it has opened up.

This deal is on Expedia. You can only use Alaska bucks on their site. Also but ifalaska matches Expedia,you should also try to use the Alaska companion fare for 99 bucks if you have the Alaska card.

Yes, I was there late Nov to early Dec 2024 and it was great weather and beautiful fall foliage everywhere.

Yes, especially Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. 35 million foreigners visited in 2024. In January 2025, Japan received the most amount of foreign tourists in it's history, and that's low season. Kyoto is insanely crowded at any time of year. I was at Kyoto station last week 7pm just to change trains, and it was probably 50% gaijin tourists. I recommend taking a train to smaller cities.

To be fair, the domestic population isn't traveling much anyways. Foreigners drove up all the hotel prices.

Hawaiian operates wide bodies with a proper lie-flat premium cabin, Alaska planes are all junk narrow bodies and any premium cabin is old recliners
