Meh on the RAM. It's kinda slow (speed and timings) considering what is available now and what Intel can push. Would be fine for an AMD build.

Traveling early April and will be by a micro center then, hopefully the something like this is still available. I'd probably pick it up
I would just see what they have in April. Hopefully they will have better bundles.

Right now, they have a bundle special. Save $70 on any Z890MB($200) with purchase of the 265K($300). Ram is $83, that would put you at $513 if you bought the parts separately.

The good thing about building your own bundle is that you can buy a different MB or Ram. For instance, you can buy a micro ATX mb to save space.

Yeah, I'll see what's available. I prefer the atx board anyway, so no qualms with this if they still have it.

They don't seem to have the issues, no. This is the mid-upper range processor (think i7) of the latest intel gen. Productivity performance generally matches or beats 14700k with much less power draw and no stability problems.

Gaming performance is largely stagnant since the 12700k, so you'd be better off with either a cheaper 12700k bundle or an AMD processor for that.

This motherboard is high quality and will do anything you need it to without complaints. The RAM is meh, CL36 is disappointing these days but it's clearly overstock ram to flesh out the bundle.
Good assessment.

Hey, you seem to know your stuff. Can you please tell me what kind of DDR5 I should but for this?

Dont intend to play many modern games, wife will be doing video editing and such. I intend to take up 3d designing at some point so wanted 265k.

This bundle comes with RAM, but if you're buying it elsewhere, the easiest way to shop for ram in the times of wild xmp speeds is to buy something off the qvl for the motherboard you're buying. Basically go to the webpage for the motherboard you're buying and somewhere in the support section there will be compatibility info on RAM that they have verified works and what speed its verified at. Buy whatever is fastest in the capacity you want that fits your budget. Make sure you get exactly the same model number they list when going off the charts though, same brand/model name could have completely different chips on it otherwise.

This isn't to say other ram won't work, even at xmp speeds, but it just makes life easier.

This AYW board is a reskinned Prime board which is their entry level. It's only real benefit over that is NVMe heatsinks.

I'm actually considering this board even though I dislike it being white. I just wish there was more reviews (or at least just one) so I could know for sure it'll work with the 8200MT memory I want to get.

Don't forget you'll still be playing the silicon lottery with the CPU since that's where the memory controller is. But Asus is claiming some ADATA RAM will run at 9066 on the board.

Curious to see what your thoughts are between this bundle and the 9900X bundle priced the same:

I'm looking to build something with a B580 that I picked up, mainly for video editing (Davinci and Topaz AI) but with some gaming as well. I go back and forth, the lack of benchmarks on this combo has put me in paralysis by analysis mode.

That's the direction I'm leaning, trying to figure out whether I'm better off going local with Microcenter or with the deal here, which also has an option for better RAM:

IDK , Asus kind of sucks
Their boards have a known bug that was not fixed in like 5 generations.
Not sure if it's fixed now or if it affects that particular board but my Asus TUF Z690
Has a weird issue where the white Q-LED comes on even though there is no problem with the GPU or video.
I researched it and looked for solutions and tried every single fix and nothing fixed it , the only way to get it to go out is to shut down the PC and then unplug the monitor and then boot it with no monitor connected and then shut it down with the power button and reconnect the monitor and boot it again.
Which is a huge PITA and forces you to do an unsafe shutdown.

Asus knows about this problem going back for generations and has decided not to fix it.
Or is just too incompetent to do so.
Also I bought one of their high end routers before and it was a disaster.
They don't support their products well, just ask ROG ally owners too.

I did a lot of research on this issue because it's annoying AF to me despite it not really affecting performance, but making my RGB look like 💩
And I found that this is a widespread issue that persists across many Asus model boards ,chipsets, and generations.

I mean if you have an actual problem then this is got to F you up if you are using Q-LEDs for trouble shooting too.

I think I would go with Auorus next time.
I just don't need these headaches.
Also got the board and a 12th gen i7 CPU bundled from MC too so I wonder if they just want to get rid of these boards because of this problem and that's why they are "free" as in my case or cheap with the bundle.
Seems mostly Asus boards offered in these MC bundle deals.

No at micro center u get the 265k plus 70 off any z890 so that is 430 for the cpu and board. IMO the 17 extra is worth it over the Newegg combo board.

Then 75 bucks for better ram(not at mc)for a total of 505

Beware of Asus!
FYI - Here's a paraphrase of my 4/16/2025, Asus Vivobook S 15 review on Best Buy:

I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death / crash about 5+ times per day.
- The Geek Squad "FIXED it" THREE times, but shortly after I got it home, same thing, BSOD!
- Sent it into the Asus service center, and when I got it back 15 days later, got BSOD twice within 4 minutes. They said the warranty does not include any replacements or refunds.

I will never buy another Asus product. And will avoid buying from Best Buy also.
