They're similar in size, but have slightly different use scenarios. This Mini charges without a cord in most USB-A ports. The light is held by a strong magnet that detaches and automatically turns on with a tug from the other half. So, the light unit itself is very small compared to the i1R2. You also want to reattach it after use so you don't lose it. The charging portion has exposed contacts, so a silicone sleeve is included. You slip it off when you need to charge again. Best uses for me include attaching it as a zipper pull on travel clothing for nightly walks, hanging it inside my camera bag, or attached to the key ring inside my laptop case. They're really handy even though I always have an i1R2 Pro attached on my car keys.

I have few of this and I must be clumsy or something but once in awhile I look down and the flashlight part fell off.

EDC literally is an acronym for "EveryDay Carry" It refers to its portability - not length of use. Even AA or AAA lights don't last all day especially when used in their highest mode. You'd be lucky to get an hour or two. EDCs are meant to be always on you when you need a useful light in a pinch. Keychain lights like this one are just for quick lighting while other pocketable with clip ones can provide a slightly longer run time for sustained lighting.

I have this on my keychain and it's a decent little light. It's not all that bright, but it's enough for getting to the mail box at night, dealing with the car at night, etc. for the size and ease of use, I really like it. Just pop it off the magnetic holder and it's instantly on. I've never had it accidentally fall out of its holder and the magnets are just the right strength to make it feel secured but also easy enough to get it off to activate when I need it.
Very unique and useful flashlight imho.
I have easily dozens of flashlights and this is one of the few that makes it into my daily use cases.

I have this keychain light.

It's been very handy. It has multiple brightness settings and is pretty damn bright for a tiny light. It gets rather warm on the high setting.

The thing I like most is that you can just hold the button to turn on the light and let go to turn it off. You can press the button to toggle constant on brightness modes as well. Charge lasts pretty good. I think I've charged it twice in 4 months of occasional use.

Here is the comparison of sizes.
Black: i1R 2 Pro (180 lumens, also has 5 lumens mode)
Orange: imini 2 (50 lumens)

I don't see why people carry a keychain flashlight that isn't brighter than their phone light.

These are perfect for hanging on a lanyard. I volunteer as an usher at the local symphony, etc., and this is great for late seating. Also would be great for any personal lighting (a cupped hand shields the light well). Contrast that with the 50,000 lumens flashlight that illuminates the entire interior of a building. It's all about a use case.

I got this keychain light from Wurkkos and it's a lot brighter than the olight, plus you don't need to remove the light from your keychain to charge it (who thought that was a good idea???). And it charges via USB-C, not USB-A. My favorite EDC light so far.

I know different people have different interests but I thought it was odd they went with a male USB-A port as opposed to a female USB-C.

We disagree on what EDC means. Thats fine. I'd rather swap out a AAA or AA battery than have a dead light, but you do you.

I work in a construction environment with zero outside light. If the lights go out and the nearest battery-backed-up light is dead you're in the dark. Most lighting isn't good enough as-is, meaning reading gages and such requires a light, meaning a flashlight is a requirement for me. I like a small EDC light that takes replacement batteries, preferably AA, but AAA is OK too.

There are guys on-site who like to have the sun in their pocket, but that's not me. I like a light light that can get me through the day.
As the other person said, EDC literally means Every Day Carry. There's nothing to agree or disagree. It's a light that's meant to be compact and sturdy enough to be carried with you at all times.
It sounds like the perfect light for you would be something slightly bigger, with a bigger battery and more capacity, that you can use on a lower setting for a long time. There are plenty of those, but yeah, this one is probably not it.

This can (hopefully) indefinitely replace my pretty much one-time-use mini flashlight I use on my badge for checking on my patient/looking under the drapes in the OR (I'm anesthesia lolol) šŸ¤“

Much thanks!

These are good flashlights but this price is the standard sale price on the Olight app/website and there's a sale about once a month.

You have $5 shipping on the site but if you're registered you also get a free light with it, usually an i3e which is also a handy keychain light. Plus you earn points if that's of any value to you.
