This is a pre-emergent product to help prevent germination of weeds especially crabgrass. You put this down right when the ground temp averages 50 degrees. In late spring you can use the post emergent weed killers for dandelions and other broadleaf weeds. Don't overseed in the spring, wait until fall
Save your money and buy better stuff from your local turf farm/landscape company. I can get the Andersons with barricade pre-e for $40 for a 50lb bag and that's regular price. Scott's is overpriced.

Use Dimension 0-0-7, now, one more application in end of May and 3r. application end of September and you will not see any weeds including crabgrass. Fertilize with organic Fertilizer like Milorganite once or twice as required. Dimension may seem expensive upfront but is actually cheaper. Spot treat weeds if there are stubborn ones. In 2-3 seasons you will have a weed free and lush lawn following above method.
That's exactly what I did. As soon as the soil warmed up a little bit it pays for itself

What if there is already crabgrass? I tried pulling them out but they keep re-emerging.
You have to use a post-emergent and spot spray it for the type of lawn that you have like St. Augustine grass in Florida. We use Celsius herbicide and Fahrenheit herbicide and others but I don't know what type of grass you have. You'll have to ask for help on that and then you also need to put down a pre-emergent you can do granular dimension. Barricade are two types that are really good. Does a lot of good lawn guys on YouTube that you can get? Really good ideas if you're new at doing your lawn

I watched a youtuber - he recommended Tenacity:

Any thoughts on this product?

Oh yeah - your recommendation is a broadcast spreadable granular.

I have found Tenacity works, but you need to adjust your expectations, esp. wrt it's pre-emergent capabilities. Due to a sprinkler coverage issue, I ended up with a bald spot in a full sun KB lawn, fixed sprinkler, then had crabgrass move in. Sprayed Tenacity and got decent kill of crabgrass, only to have foxtail germinate in its place. I hadn't found the time to overseed the spot, so I expected some annual weeds to occur, but was surprised how quickly.

Constant battle - owning a home with yard! My yard is bad - keep wanting to overseed in fall for winter germination - but I'm lazy. Will do the Crab Grass this weekend. And keep an eye out for weeds. I bought the Tenacity but have yet to use it.

Some herbicides work great first try, others require repeat sprays. Sometimes this may be down to weather issues, etc. Often the label will indicate if a second spray can be expected at 1-2 weeks, etc. I always blame the neighbor for all my weeds! lol

New house owner in new england, can someone please share some basics, what all i need to do? What all products and when?
Your best bet is to find the website for your county extension agent and see if they have a document listed. I have a nice bar graph for my state from the county extension agent that shows everything that has to be done for a nice lawn and which months are best and second best.

Close university might have a co-op extension agent too. You can call either co-op or county extension agent and ask.

Here's an example PDF from my state…

How are you getting $28,94?? Was that fat finger mistake? I'm getting $38.94. $29.97 (crab) + $28.97 (weed) - $20 = $38.94.
i'm getting the same - maybe regional pricing differences??
