You can use a hole saw that electrians use, made for metal such as the Milwaukee hole saws. Also, after you drill the hole, clean up the edge of the hole with a rat tail file and paint the bare metal edge with some rust preventing paint. Rustoleom paint works very well.
Thank you

I've been using these for years for the block heaters on my car and truck. Easier to plug in and unplug than a cord hanging out of the grille and looks better. The one I use is the same Noco but it only has a 16 inch cord instead of the 12 foot cord, which is plenty to reach the block heater without having a bunch of extra cord to tie up.

I also just mounted one of these to easily run my car refrigerators inside the car when I have 120v power nearby without having to run an extension cord through a door or window.
I too use this for a block heater on my truck. Works awesome and looks good. Just need the short one.

this kinda seems like a good way to use my emergency generator to power my fridge and whatnot instead of leaving the window ajar and an extension cord through it. someone tell me if it's a bad idea for that use case? i don't have siding by the backdoor. i was thinking I could drill the whole on the side of it in an inconspicuous place. unless this is crazy

It's a very simple unit to let an 15A extension cord send power to inner side through a small hole. What you want to do should be fine.

There are other models also on sale, like the shorter version, GCP1, for $10.42 (Amazon claims 65% off)

I bought this version 1-4-2019. So, they're lying about the 65% off or inflation ot I bought it on sale (don't think it was).

Thanks to OP for the post, and thanks to you for the even more appropriate (and cheaper) product for my use case. Cheers!
