Just ordered one. My son wanted a 9a but paying an extra 50 for the real 9 is a no brainer esp since the 9a is using the old modem not the new ones the other 9 series use. Note I have been using a 9 pro xl and had upgraded from the 8 Pro due to a trade in that was too good to ignore and I like my 9 series MUCH more. None of the connectivity problems I had with 6-8 series. So I was a bit worried about the modem downgrade in the 9a for my son. Now I dont have to.
Ok? Math and risk/reward assessment here bud. $525 brand new from a brick and mortal or save $25 and buy from some rando??
I have had mutiple pixels and none have failed.

Good deal. Pity there was no refunds trade in with this. Also stacks with the 15% target circle discount.
Might want to add that the Circle deal is very YMMV. Most of us have 'shop xx number of times and get xx $ back'. What I will say is for a guaranteed extra 5% off, you can create a new account and get the birthday code 5% off (just say your birthday is today to get it added instantly). With the Redcard discount, I got the 9 pro for $630.85 plus tax using this method

Modem will be the least of his worries. These phones either fail due to processor/power supply or screen issues. Had 3 of them break on me for no reason. They'll do anything to avoid upholding the warranty. Pain in the ass

These sites have a search feature—just look for "Pixel 9 New."

However, be aware that you could run into warranty issues if something goes wrong. If you buy from an unauthorized eBay seller, Google might not honor the warranty, as it typically applies only to devices purchased from authorized retailers.

While the warranty is linked to the device's IMEI number, Google may still reject claims for purchases from unauthorized sellers like eBay or similar marketplaces. It would certainly be a YMMV situation.
The Warranty is always based on the IMEI.
I've NEVER heard of Google denying the warranty claim or asking for proof of purchase.
Also you can ask the seller where they got the phone from. While getting warranty coverage with Google, you can always say it was from BestBuy, Amazon or any authorized retailed. I don't believe they ever ask for invoice.
Also the warranty is transferrable to whoever uses the phone.

I had the 15% on my target circle and also had a 5%. Both stacked and it seemed like a good deal. Sadly I wasn't in the market for one.

In any case, why risk it? The warranty goes from the initial purchase date so you're already working with a reduced timeframe on top of everything

Swappa is safe to buy from. Just saying there are other options if you want to save every buck possible.
I *just made a post showing how basically anyone can get it sub $500 through Target. Wasn't even thinking of the warranty stuff but that is a factor too (even if you don't get denied a claim, potentially having shorter warranty from buying second hand sucks too)

Mint had this for $399. I still refused to buy. Google hardware is so bad. It's sad US consumers have few choices when it comes to phones. You only have apple or Samsung. Others including google, motorola are just junk.
Please recommend 1 phone that you like and available for sale.

I have the 8. Is the 9 worth the upgrade? How does the camera compare?

I couldn't disagree more. I owned a few Galaxy's years ago, and I've had significantly better experiences with every single Pixel I've owned (5 of them now) than with any of the Samsungs. I understand that was probably 8-10 years ago now, and things change, but man was it a night-and-day difference for me, the opposite way you're saying.

I agree with you. I had just said to someone that my Pixel 9 Pro XL was the best phone I ever owned and I mostly owned Samsung followed by Apple. However, I have not experienced a hardware failure with a Google phone, but based on my experience with a couple Fitbit devices, I could see what someone might feel completely different about Google phones.

The 8 is still really good. Unless youre having poor reception/internet speeds, I would skip the 9s. The 9 pro is a nice package thought because it gets the telephoto zoom making it the best overall camera package in a small phone imo (coming from guy who's owned every pixel model/size since the 8, tons of galaxies, 14/15/16 pro iPhone etc...)

Could consider the Samsung.com certified renewed Samsung S23 (new battery, like new condition) for $319 when trading any smartphone. Very happy with the purchase in a previous deal and the processor is better than the Pixel 9's even though its 2 years old. Only 3 more years of updates though. Will probably be cheaper soon when Samsung starts selling renewed S24s.

I've had the Pixel 9 since last August when Best Buy paid me to take one. It is an excellent phone. Great screen, cameras and despite the fact that the iPhone 12 has faster processor it feels quite snappy and there is no lag. Battery life is excellent as well. No bloatware and immediate updates from Google for years to come.
