Just worked for me. It didn't the first time and I realized I hit the 'continue' button and not the little arrow in the same box as where you put the code in. Make sure you hit the arrow to apply the code before hitting Continue. I'm using Amazon Android app, fwiw.

I bought this exact device 3 years ago. I returned it because it got very hot to touch. That was a shame because the price at the time was a steal ($12).
