I'm having trouble of comparing a full 145w 4060 to a 115w 4070 and the benchmark difference. I found one thing saying the 4070 is 11% faster vs the normal 50% but unsure. Anyone? Comparing to the Victus obviously

From what I've seen on the Jarred Tech channel the 4060 and 4070 don't benefit from more than 90w... Imo if the price difference is anything significant all else being the same 4060 is just as good... 10% isn't going to make a game playable or unplayable either way. If you want a big boost in performance and vram getting a 4080 on sale is the way to go.... but its going to cost a lot more.

Tempting, especially if ram is upgradable.
No fingerprint reader, for those who care.

Does anyone have experience with Acer refurbs who's willing to share? This would be for a kid who's heading to study outside the US, so warranty of any kind is unlikely to be helpful. Thanks.

This performance for the price is tempting as my first gaming PC. Looks like the MSRP on some sites is around 1,499 though? Unless I'm reading the specs wrong.

Yes, it's $1499. eBay listing got it wrong.

$1499 might be MSRP for a new one. The laptop in the op is Refurbished.

I got one. It is what I need for astronomical processing. The fast processors are good but what I really needed was an Nvidia GPU. This was the best deal I could find with i9-14900HX and 4060. I already upgraded to 32 MB and added another TB SSD to the second slot. The PC came with 16mb 8x8 (no solder) and an open M.2 slot.
This is a heavy laptop. The power supply is also big and bulky. The supply uses low-gauge(thick) wire so the cords are fat and stiff. The power cord plugs into the back of the PC (not the side) and this is the one thing I don't like. It has to rest between your legs while on your lap and the cord in the back gets easily unplugged. I unplug it now when I sit with the laptop and so far the battery is really good for what I do.

So for me it's the opposite. Power+HDMI on the back is a requirement (along with 10 key and quality screen). Sounds like though their power cord is poorly designed and would be a problem either way. Benefits to rear plug is it's never in the way of a mouse, or your desk if you ever work on a desk. Also less likely to get damaged in the rear vs sides.

What you might check is if it has USB C charging at all. As long as the IGPU is being used, a USB C 100-160 watt charger should keep the system running at full speed/max performance for anything not relying on the 4060 basically. That's what I did with my Legion 5 Pro recently. Bought a charge for $35 that weighs a few ounces instead of a few lbs lol. Can't game on it, but can do everything else without turning anything down.
