The $20 Fire HD 8 tablets can be quite useful if repurposed, in my opinion.

For instance, you can install TinyCamPro [amazon.com] and use the tablet as a security camera viewing device. Alternatively, it could serve as a PC status display device via Pitikapp [pitikapp.com]. You can use Fire Toolbox [liliputing.com] to install the Google Play store to get access to many useful android apps as well.

The repurposed Fire Tablet can be used to view multiple cameras on one screen via TinyCamPro.

The Fire Tablet will function as an NVR, enabled by TinyCamPro, which supports all major cameras, including Wyze, Tapo, EZVIZ, and more.

You can mount the repurposed tablet on a wall or shelf for 24/7 camera monitoring. Just avoid displaying too many cameras at once—I find that four is a good balance to keep TinyCamPro stable and prevent crashes. Additionally, Software Rendering for the cameras has proven to be the most reliable streaming solution in my experience.

Deal is over now but for those who purchased the 10 th edition and are loading the Google store. You need to to back to a December 2024 from the apkmirror page to make it work. I used com.android.vending_43.7.20-23_0_PR_696990833-84372000_minAPI23(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a,x86,x86_64)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk as all the newers had parsing errors.

the tablet is also darn slow and is skipping most the time.
