I use this stuff as a ground cloth under my tent instead of an expensive footprint.

It's lighter, surprisingly durable, water resistant, and you can't beat the price.

Summer time you would want a UV reflective film. I can vouch they work much better than these winter ones that you would want the sun to help heat your house. I have a southern facing bay windows in my living room and used to have a problem with the living room being 5 - 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. Heat/UV curtains work ok, but the film does 5X's better. For the last couple of years, the film has kept my living room about the same temp as the rest of the house during the June-August months, and my A/C doesnt work as hard. I'm still debating if I want to put a permanent tint on those windows, as they will not help heating the house during the winter.

If you use these because of air leaking windows, a good sealant will be a much better choice.

I use this product in a old RV. It really helped sealing the windows preventing air from coming in. I totally recommend it. It is a pain to put up though!

Are you saying you're using a removable film you can remove during the winter months? If so, any suggestions on which one to get?

They're marketed as privacy film, but most have UV blocking with it. It's the tint that applies to the window, but like I said, I havent decided if I want it to permanently stick to those windows yet because of the heat it gives during the winter. Apply it like you would with winter film, using double sided tape. Use the same rolls you use for the winter film that is paint safe.

Also note you cant see inside during the day time, but when its dark outside and you have the inside all lit up, the privacy goes down a lot. Still use blinds or curtains if anyone can see into your house through the windows you're applying them to. They go on sale during the fall - holiday months.

Does this help in the summer too or only winter?
Go with a sun screen. It blocks 90% of the sun's heat. I changed mine and it made a big difference
