And yes, some handheld gaming PC's have better hardware on paper but they tend do still perform worse with Windows' overhead vs the SD running a slim version of Linux. Or you can spend $200-500 more and get something completely incomparable but again we are at the same thing..."overpriced" compared to what?
*I'm sure someone will recount how they once bought a (blah blah blah) on FB marketplace "like new" for 2 cans of soup and $3 so therefore the Steam Deck is oVeRpRiCeD compared to that unicorn. Same thing goes for completely apples to oranges coversations about Best Buy open box deals but at least they come with a warranty and almost no chance of getting shot

Edit: Refreshing game to see stock come in and out as usual.
Yeah, I see stock now. It eventually showed up after a couple minutes of refreshing.
Very true and I thought the same thing, but there is a lot of value in being able to game portably and play games on my backlog.

Now if this was the base 64gb steamdeck for $280 i will jump on that. Even $320 256gb is great deal.
How does Slickdeals feel about the LCD vs. OLED screen? Not if it is worth the price jump, but is it so good you would never want to go back to non-OLED/emissive?

Everyone says oled is better, i believe it also comes with bigger battery, faster refresh rate and tiny bit larger screen. But is it double the price better? Not sure.

Ally rog z1e is faster and was 450 on sale new for a week or two recently. But there's the issue of Asus CS vs valve CS

Valve says the Deck 2 is probably still a couple years away, just FYI.
They want to give the hardware time to mature before releasing multiple iterations.
At best you are looking at a tiny FPS difference for less than the cost of a mediocre meal. Unless customer service, features, OS, specific game performance / support, community backing, etc is your line in the sand there is little 'gaming' difference or price between the two examples. Thus the "overpriced" label still makes no sense. Or are we suggesting the entire category is overvalued? However that is an entirely different discussion I do not believe we are having.
