Oh yes they are.

Non-inverters are on and off machines. They always draw the maximum current. Either they are on or off. Every time the compressor turns on, it also affects other appliances because they have to use huge current to kick start the compressor. They maintain the desired temperature by turning off and on. No way to tell the compressor to just run at 25% to maintain desired temperature.

On the other hand, the inverter compressor versions is adjustable. It can draw as low as 100w just to maintain the desired temperature setting. I have this AC but with heater and by average, it draws 200-400w blowing just the right amount of cold air. If it's too hot, or you put it to maximum compressor speed and full fan speed, it can draw up to 1300w.
Yes I bought it and the sound noise is great. Sounds just like a fan. Night and day compared to my standard single hose condenser unit

I didn't use it yet. The heat is running right now lol and upper tm20's at night.

If it wasn't for the ridiculous installation fee, I will get the Mini Split Air Conditioner for the room above the garage.
I forget not everyone is experiencing my temperatures. I pondered a mini split; they are big here. But I can't afford top of the line, and I'm unsure of the quality of all the brands. Maybe next year.

Found a guy on CL, who quoted $500 for the install. Reasonable, but I imagined him doing lines like Lester Diamond as we spoke on the phone.

I've got a 10000 BTU LG as well, and a rooftop unit (I'm in a park model RV) that I don't know its age and it is unbearably noisy. Hopefully this Midea and the LG can manage.

Interesting. The 3 year plan seems like the one to attempt, as it states "Appliances" in the title. Your 4 year "Electronics" seems like it might be a bit of a stretch, although the terms and conditions are the same for both, and "Major Appliances" is mentioned here:

"We may, at Our discretion, require You to submit pictures (and, if Your Product is a major appliance, audio or video) of the damage or defect for which You are making a claim, or to submit other necessary documentation to process Your claim."

There is also no mention of "refurbished" or "renewed" in the T&C. I'm sure you read it yourself.

This is also something I took note of:

What is Not Covered:
"o. Claims made under any improperly or incorrectly purchased Protection Plan;"

When I go to https://Walmart.com/protection, and then click on "Your Account", I get the message "Sorry, it looks like you don't have any eligible products.", even though the Midea is in my "purchase history". But this is probably because it is still in transit. If the plan was required to be linked as an option at the time of purchase, then why do they offer them separately? The 3 year is in my cart now.

I might take a shot on the 3 year "Appliance" plan. Funny though, we win the case only in our minds now as to whether we are eligible to buy this plan for the Midea. As you well know, the insurance provider holds all the cards when it comes time to honor a claim. It also seems logical, and legally sound, to assume that if a claim were denied because the warranty never applied, a refund should be issued. Good luck with that though, right?

BTW, I read there is no "registration" for these warranties. They just go into effect when purchased (hopefully). They also don't send you a policy, if I read things correctly. It's just the "Terms and Conditions". https://www.squaretrade.com/img/m..._FINAL.pdf

I read all the 1 star reviews last night on Costco. Then, to bring me out of the depression that caused, I read all the 5 stars, haha.

Since I got burned just last week on my returned, damaged during shipping LG, I'm apprehensive. I live in the Mojave desert, where I'll be giving the Midea a real workout when it hits 120° this summer. It's 91° now, hitting 93° later today.

Thanks for the info.

If someone who has received their unit reads this, I'd appreciate it if you would go to https://Walmart.com/protection and then click on "Go to your account", and let me know what if any options it presents to you.
It does not present me with options. I also noticed the appliance vs electronic vs accident protection plans. But given the equivalent appliance and electronic one are identically priced, hoping the 4 year works.

Once I did buy it, I went to my allstate (square trade) account and the warranty showed up but said "receipt needed." Once I uploaded the receipt it changed to "active."

Good luck to you, and you've got me considering it again. My A/C unit is arriving a day early, tomorrow. If all is well with it I will likely follow your example.

Your choice of Electronics vs Appliance has me thinking of the scene after the pool hall brawl in Mean Streets. The cop says "What is this? This is a knife". Harvey Keitel says "No, its got a toothpick in there! See, right here!"

BTW, how is yours performing, or are you in the cold weather too?

Anyone found a creative way to separate the hoses? Not great to have intake heated by hot exhaust hose.
like to setup like my dual hose Hisense.
1x 4" Exhaust using insulated Duct
1x 4" Intake about 2' away from exhaust

using 4" round Soffit Vents

Last week it was 80 and it performed great. Last night we had a freeze warning. 😂 Weather around here changes on a dime. But when we have used it it's been been really good. I've also somehow unintentionally gone all in all midea. Got their fridge, washer dryer and now this in the last month. The former two only because Costco had some killer deals (and of course tacked on the Costco allstate 5y warranty there too.)

Also I think someone had to review the receipt upload before it went active. Because I got one of my Costco ones after purchase as well and it stayed "in review" for a bit before flipping to active after uploading my receipt. So fingers crossed I'm good to go.

Side note, make sure to get the allstate one you want the first time. I got the 3y, then the 4y and went to cancel the 3y. Walmart kept sending me a FedEx return label saying I had to "return" the warranty before refunding. 🙄 I had to call customer service 2x before they refunded it.

got delivered with a large gash in the side of the box and unit itself, now I am trying to convince walmart to pick it up from my house instead of forcing me to lug it to their nearest store just to get a refund for an 80 lb broken appliance they left at my door.

Is this how it's supposed to be installed?

On a side note. I ordered 3 of these. Each one has an issue.

One had a broken hose clip, another was missing the remote and installation accessories, and the other was missing the exhaust ring.

One works well, haven't tested the other two. Will contact Walmart.

My second one came in, with all new accessories, but the unit itself and the piping is filthy dirty. The packaging was also destroyed when it got to me. They should spend 50 more cents on tape and secure it nicely.

I'm not finding much of a means of navigating either site specifically to put one of these plans in a cart. I would hope there'd be some easy way to browse and put a four-year appliance warranty into a cart as opposed to hoping that the four-year electronic one would work. I wonder if this is worth the phone call to either SquareTrade or Walmart online

Once you setup your square trade (allstate bought sq trade) account you can chat with them via the website.

Mine arrived undamaged, and after renting a truck down the street and picking it up at the RV Park office, I took it home. The RV park won't let delivery vehicles come to our sites, and I have a tiny old sports car. I had to do this with my LG too last week; luckily a neighbor with a pickup took it back to the office for me.

I had to cut off 1 1/4 inches from one of the pieces of the window kit. At around 27 inches, I seem to have been in the sour spot, as the piece I cut would intrude on the exhaust hole, and the smaller one was too short. I'm not a Harbor Freight guy, but a metal ruler and a utility knife worked to score and snap it. Looked clean.

One tip on installation. Clean your inside windows as I did. Then don't forget to clean the outside before installing the kit like I did because after the install is finished (and I foamed and taped the sucker good), you can't clean the outside of the lower sash anymore, cause it's behind the fixed upper sash lol. Luckily it's not too dirty.

It's putting out literally ice cold air. If I put my infrared thermometer against the vent (I know) I get readings in the high 20's. I'm happy with the performance. In the bedroom it's a few decibels louder than my rooftop unit, only because that is mounted in the living room and I close the bedroom door at night. But this is, like others have said, like white noise. I will sleep good tonight, and hopefully my back is not any more sore tomorrow. I had a 10ft truck with no ramp and no help.

On high, when set to the max of 60°, it has a distinct hum/buzz sound, I guess the compressor, separate from the fan noise. Is this normal? It doesn't do it on low or medium at more moderate temperature settings. And when I'm using it to supplement my LG in the summer, it will be in the bedroom where I won't hear it in the living room. Just curious...

One thing that sucks is the swing vents reset every time you turn it off. I want mine permanently pointed at the top of the bedroom door in the summer, and I have two tiny fans on the way to mount at the top of the doorway, to aid room to room circulation.

Lastly, and most importantly, they sent me a different remote control. NOT the one PICTURED in the Walmart (and Costco) listing. NOT the one with C Sense. It has I Sense, which means it merely acts as a thermometer, but does not communicate or interact with the unit. I had read about C Sense repeatedly, and was curious to use it on my nightstand at night when sleeping. I know it has to be in line of sight. Midea was closed when I tried to call. EDIT: There's more in the manual than the non-descriptive line I read that simply states I Sense is "Temperature sensing and room temperature display button". It may be the same as C Sense after all. If this makes no sense, my apologies. I still want the advertised remote. Doesn't it have a backlight?

The one (giant) page instructions, printed to note it is a refurbished unit, show pics of the remote I received. Walmart would claim innocent mistake (conceivable), and Midea can claim total innocence (reasonable). Anyone else? I didn't see any posts about it.

The units get a new serial number, taped over the old one on the side. UL Listed is also scrawled out with a sharpie. Too much hassle for recertification I guess.

It did pair with Matter for Apple Home use and the Smart Home app easily, which is nice. Smart Home does everything, except of course C Sense. My Wifi is 5 ghz, but when something claims you need 2.4 ghz, I have an old travel router that I used to use as an extender of my home network, and I plug in to connect (it does 2.4 ghz), then I can unplug it and things still work. I've done this with other accessories. I'm no expert but this is my experience.

All in all a good day. I just hope Midea offers something concerning the remote, like a discounted one, when I call them tomorrow.

Keep us updated. I was expecting the original remote for the model as pictured but I got a subpar remote without backlight and random buttons...

You don't need to plug in your old 2.4 router/extender if 2.4ghz items stay connected after you unplug it. Your 5ghz network is probably in hybrid mode using band steering.

I never seen a 5ghz only router
