The black/shadow version is back in stock on MSI's website.

Edit: disregard above, can't actually add to cart. Thanks SlipTap for the correction.

3080 absolutely does support DLSS4, with the exception of frame generation.
There's patches for FrameGen: https://wccftech.com/enable-fsr-3...-amd-gpus/

Bit the bullet. Went from a 4070S to 9070 XT and now back down to a 5070. CUDA is just too ubiquitous to pass up unfortunately.

You're not wrong, but the performance penalty for DLSS4 on the 30 series is not insignificant.

It's not actually available. Once added to cart, it'll say it doesn't have quantity in stock and error out. It's unfortunately been this way for the past couple of days

PC gaming is in such a sad state. You shouldn't have to tell someone that wants to build their first ever PC that a 1440P mid range GPU alone will cost them $550-600.

COVID proved to the industry that people will pay anything to be able to keep playing their video games, and it's hurt the consumer base as a whole in a major way. I'm old enough now that I can afford this shit, but I feel for the up and coming generations. It's such a barrier to entry, they might be enjoying record profits for now, but in the long run they're on the path to causing another industry crash IMO.

My rant for the day as someone that started over 20 years ago on solid $100-200 GPUs...

About 25% FPS. If you care about ray tracing, it will absolutely smoke the 3080. I think it's a solid upgrade.
I would not worry about the 12gb VRAM at all on the 5070. It's solidly a 1080p/1440p card and with DLSS, 99.8% of the games out there won't exceed that.
Until you get into ai, LLMs, video editing etc, even 12GB isn't enough 🤦

This is basically what the price of the 4070 was for the longest time. And this is a tiny upgrade over that… but it's also the only thing available. Just gonna have to play the annoying waiting game for demand to level off and prices come down if at all

hows this for an upgrade to rtx 3080?
raw performance.. meh. but without it you dont get access to the new tech like the frame gen stuff so it will feel like a much bigger upgrade

If you are going to buy this card, MSI still has it in stock for same price of $550 but they did not charge me sales tax, which saved me $41.25

Here is a list of video cards released 20 years ago (2005) along with their original MSRP and adjusted price for 2025, accounting for inflation:

Video Card Original MSRP (2005) Adjusted Price (2025)
GeForce 7800 GTX $599 $1,081.86
GeForce 7800 GTX 512 $649 $1,172.17
GeForce 7800 GT ~$449 ~$810.15
GeForce 6600 GT $200 $361.22
GeForce 6600 $150 $270.92
ATI Radeon X800 XL $299 $540.03

from what i recall 6600 was definitely the low end budget card so while they have crept up, its not as much as you think it is?
