Was at my local Target tonight and saw Block Financial H&R Block Tax Preparational Software Deluxe + State 2024 on clearance for $17.99.
Note is just a box that has download code within, for windows or mac.

Thanks for the datapoint...I'm sure they're are a LOT of SD'ers in your neck of the woods who could use this info...especially on the last day to file. (Well, you can always file late - I don't believe there is any penalty if you are getting a refund...)

Used FreeTaxUSA yesterday to e-file both state and federal taxes for $15. Used H&R Block as well, got the same numbers. Totally not worth paying $18 (even if you can find it) and then another $25 for the state e-file.

I was hesitant because my tax situation is a little complicated with investments and rentals but was pleasantly surprised by FreeTaxUSA. Glad I took a shot to use it because H&R software only went up in price.m and I refused to pay inflated prices for it. I did miss not having the import feature directly from brokers but the PDF import seem to work okay. There were a few PDFs where it didn't import or missed a cell. However, was worth the savings to review and type in some information. Also, in several cases I thought freetaxUSA had better functionality or was more user friendly than H&R Block's software. I did pay for the audit defense for $20 since this was the first time I used something other than H&R Block. Just my own peace of mind.

About a dozen sitting on the clearance shelf at my local Target (Clairemont in San Diego). Premium and Business too.

These are available at the Springfield Mall in Northern VA. Upstairs. No price listed or in their system, but marked at 70% off. The cashier let me pick my own price for Premium. I said $10. He said he would have let it go for $2. I have much to learn.
