Congrats on the TV upgrade. Time to upgrade the gf too.
The S85D rates higher in those Rtings links because the B4 and C4 have been updated to Rtings' latest testing benchmark (v2.0) and the S85D has not (v1.11). The S85D will surely lower once updated since the C4 rated 9.0 and the B4 rated 8.9 with v1.11 benchmark testing.
Avoid Roku also. They are also showing more ads now on Home Screen.

Why? Reviews say differently (also beats C4 model)
Samsung S85D 8.7:

LG B4 8.1:

Unless you paid a lot more, then benefits vs. returning I guess.

Be Careful with some comparisons as they may not be valid!
RTINGS are updating their TV review system to 2.0 which grades TVs on a much harsher scale than before!

In this case, B4 scored definitely better than s85D in the original 1.1 review system. Now, B4 has been updated to the stricter 2.0 system but S85D has not been update yet so the comparison of current 1.1 and 2.0 scores is apples to oranges!

I'd get the C4 as those prices are coming down as well with the C5's being introduced.

Entry level OLED TV market is expected to be flooded with more manufacturers this year according to blogger attendees of CES but I don't really follow given the tariff policies

The flood of lower cost OLEDs is the result of LG's panel improvements. They have a new panel tech going into the G5 and C5. Rather than sell the older panels directly, they are selling them to other manufacturers. This way, they can maintain their OLEDs as upscale and keep their QLEDs down market, letting lower tier competition sell the lesser quality, older tech. It does risk cutting sales of the B4 and B5.

Bought this about a month ago for the same price from BJ's. Total of 5 year warranty coverage. Have not opened it yet, thinking prices will go down another 10%. But probably not. Only thing that was BS about the purchase is that BJ's charges sales tax on the original price. Called customer care and they refunded me $40. Still $50 more in taxes than it should have been. Bet they never turn it in to the state tax office and use the money for executive bonuses.

How low do you think C4's will get down to?

Hey thanks guys, didn't realize I wasn't comparing apple to apple RTINGS reviews. Thanks to the Wayback Machine we can compare both 1.1 versions:

I wouldn't get a B series for this price. I got a C4 65" in November for 1050 from Greentoe brand new. Also LG's WOLED is objectively superior to the Samsung QDOLED of the same class. Why? Well the wider color gamut of the QDOLED isn't a usable color space in ANY media that exists is one obvious reason. There are two critically more important reasons. 1) The Sammy WILL NOT pass through/decode ANY DTS audio streams beyond 2.1 making it 100% useless for about 80% of all media that exists and 2) The Sammy uses QDOLED, an inferior technology because the display can't operate with a polarizer; the polarizer is removed to allow QDOTS to boost contrast/brightness and as a result any ambient light (including light generated by the TV itself) will absolutely CRUSH the black levels raising them to a redish brown that absolutely DESTROYS picture quality/color accuracy/detail in dark scenes/etc. Just don't. I bought the Samsung comparable QDOLED before returning it and getting the C4 and the whole "can't actually be truly black" aspect of it was a huge bummer but the real killer was that almost all of my home media library couldn't play back DTS audio so it was effectively a paperweight. The whole point of a high-end TV like this is to act as a hub to transmit audio to your soundsystem and it can't do that. You'd need to circumvent the TV entirely and buy an expensive receiver set which is silly. So you can only use it for extremely low quality lossy highly compressed streaming tier garbage (netflix/hulu/etc). Anyone who is buying an OLED presumably has a home collection (be it digital or physical) and could not use Samsung's products effectively without dumping another grand into a receiver.

been using this TV for a few months. the contrast and such is great, but the main issue is its just not very bright. For HDR content, its solid. But SDR content is just really dim and doesnt pop like other higher end models. ~400nits means its less than half as bright as my older Hisense TV in SDR. Also the remote is super mega garbage and I hate everything about it.

I ordered this from the EPP site for $972+tax last week and it's getting delivered tomorrow.

Why I got it: I eventually plan to get an 83"+ C or G set so I wanted the cheapest good OLED set possible to tide me over. I currently have a 2017 B7 model which works fine but as a gamer I wanted support for 2k resolution and VRR which my current set doesn't have. I also wanted a set with two legs instead of a central stand as I want to be able to put the soundbar and other stuff under the set since right now it's a bit messy in front.

What you should be aware of: This model doesn't support 144hz refresh rate, while the C4 and G4 do. G4 may even go to 165hz, I'm not sure. This model is also notorious for not being as bright as other competing products, including C4 and G4. So you have to be mindful of where you are setting it up. I am pretty sensitive to bright lights so hopefully this won't bother me. I never felt like the B7 wasn't bright enough and I think the brightness is similar.
Mine arrives tomorrow and hopefully it's an easy swap to make. These also support airplay so that should reduce my clutter. If I absolutely hate it, I'll come back and make an edit.

EDIT: In case anyone stumbles on this in future searches, I'm very satisfied with the set. Feels like a considerable upgrade to my older 2017 B7 of the same size. The two leg stands allows me to have the TV closer to the front of the stand which gives the illusion of a larger set in the same space. It's also a little brighter than my old set. The issues people say about the remote are less the remote and more that the new UI kinda sucks with everything smaller and stuck to the side. The remote being a wireless wand sucks but only because it is bad at that. Speakers sound better than my previous TV tho I'm using the soundbar anyway. I decided to keep the apple TV attached because it seemed not connecting the set to wifi is probably better for privacy.

I just want to say I got my first OLED last month, the b4 for $500, and it is a bit of a revelation after using decent VA and IPS monitors / monitors over the years. I'd encourage people to take the oled plunge and just use the return policy if they don't like it.

Glad you think so; you're still incorrect. If you don't care that's fine, it is a disservice to others misrepresenting via a false equivalency.

Just a couple to educate other people to make an educated decision:
