I don't like the fact that that it's 5640 RPMs. I'd rather buy a slightly slower 5400 RPM drive than have a such a ridiculous number on my hard drive. I would have even been okay with 5600 RPM, but that extra 40 RPMs would bother me too much every time I used my computer.

Why??

The only times I have catastrophically lost data has been with various Seagate drives over the years...Fool me twice.

Had a 4TB WD Blue die this week. Lasted a whopping 3 years 4 months, and only 20TB writes. They don't make drives like they use to regardless of brand. That's why the warranties are only 2 years now.

Why not? 8TB SSDs cost around 4x or 5x as much as this. For backups this makes more sense than an SSD.

HDD market is so good now because of AI. They don't care for B(Business) to C(Customer) but B to B. HDD market,

Hate to break your OCD, but that's just the rating. It just means the drive moves at a MINIMUM of 5,400.

All Toshiba found was their drive spins minimum at a bit higher speed.

Likely Seagates and WDs spin slightly higher. They just opted to keep to tradition.

In other words, their savvy marketing is what you are willingly opting for.
