Project farm on YouTube did a video for comparing pretty much all the detergents. Arm & Hammer was one of the top performing ones, although it was not the sensitive one he tested, it was the regular version.

This stuff is always dirt cheap. But in my experience it's not really effective and worse than most generics. Yet it's still well reviewed. What's the appeal? Am I crazy or do people just have lower standards?

I find the old school powder Arm & Hammer is the best.

Pretty much all liquid detergents are overpriced because you're paying for liquid, and water is super cheap. A lot more cleaning power in the same mass/volume with the powder.

It's not great. This is the cheapest I have seen it per load in years. Consumer Reports rates their Oxi version the highest fwiw. We use it since we are cheap.

The sensitive skin formula mean it's not as tough on stains?

No and no, powder detergent has fillers too not necessarily more effective and most of time worse than liquid detergent. Also it leaves more residues for sure.

It's a good question. My approach with laundry detergent is the same as I do with other cleaners, and have several different detergents for different types of cleaning.

I use this for towels and stuff that isn't that dirty, and we like the smell of the regular version. I use Kirkland for most regular clothes (rated as high as Tide in CR testing but is cheap when on sale at Costco), and Tide Ultra for anything particularly dirty/sweaty or more expensive clothes I don't want to risk accidentally drying a stain and setting it.

I also find that Oxiclean with Odor Blast (or whatever they call it), does a great job removing stains for pre-soaks and has a great scent that I use for anything sweaty (kids sports stuff, socks, etc)

You are right about the Kirkland brand. It is almost as good as Tide/Persil

Good idea 👍 washing towels differently. Didn't even think about that. I do something similar with paper towels and napkins as everyone reaches for paper towels for everything in the house. Most tasks can be done with the cheap table napkins so I keep both on hand. I tell everyone use napkins to do the small stuff and towels when you need them. They last much longer

Is Sams brand detergent of similar quality to Kirkland one? I moved to Sam's recently.
