need to follow the instructions, sometimes pairing is hard. hold the home button for 10 seconds. sometimes you also need to reset the remote, it's a two button hood combo that you'll find by searching google
plug in any thumb drive or card reader into the back. I have a $1.50 64GB SD card and reader from ali that provides all the storage you need.
If you need/want a TV and want to pay the bare minimum then buy it. It's extremely easy to return, especially if you have a local drop-off point. There's basically no risk.

Not exactly sure what you mean by automatically, but I have this and think it's pretty good for $50. It will power on and off TVs with HDMI CEC, which the Fire TV probably has.
