When I got into 3D printers it was like Linux. Linux is only free a free if your time is worthless.

I got one of these for roughly this price last week from Elegoo. The only things I have changed on it are new firmware and silicone bed spacers. Machine looks and works like brand new. I also have several 3D printers, and have been 3D printing for over 10 years, while happily running all my computers on nothing but Linux for over 15 years. I have to agree with Aogen.

If you don't need it now, yes. There are a lot of new coreXY printers coming out in the price range of bedslingers. Also, it will probably get a multi-color add-on in the future.

What is your price sensitivity? I think the Centauri is going to be the better, faster printer with a somewhat larger build area. However, at current prices it's $200+30ish for shipping. So figure it's almost $100 more expensive. It does seem to be an all around better printer and odds are someone will come up with an enclosure DIY kit/mod. I did the enclosure for my Flashforge 5M in part to keep dust off the actual printing parts.

Anyway, if I were trying to convince you to go with this deal I would note that this is a decently fast printer. While not as fast as the Centauri, it's not slow. I would guess a 5hr print job on the Centauri would be 6-7hr on this. The Centauri is likely to do better with surface artifacts, especially as the print gets taller given it's a Core XY. However, if you slow your print speeds down the Neptune can still deliver good finishes and if you are just making functional parts, this difference may not matter much.

Basically, this is a good printer (assuming the used example is in good condition) and if you are just going to print PLA, where the enclosure doesn't matter much, then the biggest drawbacks will be a bit slower and a somewhat smaller build plate.

I bought one two weeks ago and it needed only the regular setup steps and worked almost like new except that the toolhead LED light does not appear to work. Worth the $140 shipped.

Yes assuming you mean the original or Pro. This is similar to either an Ender 3 V3 or V3KE. Compared to the original 3, it's much faster, uses silent stepper motors, has a PEI build plate (a cheap upgrade for older printers), auto bed leveling. It can print via a network vs using memory cards (can still use memory cards). It should have better details thanks to a direct drive extruder.

Is this a good upgrade if you already have an Ender 3? I'm not sure, see my post about regarding what an extra $100 gets you.

Avoid. My Neptune 4 Pro came heavily used. The auto leveling probe does not work. Contacted their tech support for a week and no solution nor replacement sent. It's 30 day warranty is expiring soon on me.
