I'm on year two of this exact model and literally owned a nexgrill that I got on clearance for $99 7 years ago. This is a far superior product in all facets. It offers more even cooking, better heat control no more grease fires and it is quite literally better designed for cleaning. My only regret is sticking with the cheap grill for so long. I easily ruined more $$ worth of meats in those 5 years.
Thank you for explaining. But smaller than what?

The spirit is nothing more than a glorified $99 grill you can find at Walmart, save the hassle and buy the right one
That is not true at all. I used to replace grills almost every year or two. None cooked or heated evenly and they would just completely wear out after a season or two. Parts for them were seldom available or affordable is they were.

Caught a deal on here many years ago in 2011 for a spirit E310 and till this year the only thing I had to to replace were the flavorizer bars. This year I did have to to finally replace the grills and the flavorizer bars for the second time but still consider it great value and it is still working fine. Some rust but nothing major

Maybe something has changed since I bought mine but it is still going strong and I do not even keep the thing covered.

I'll never buy another Weber gas grill. I bought a Weber Summit S-470 for $2200 less than 4 years ago. It gets used fairly rarely, maybe 15-20 times per summer, and is usually covered when not in use. The fit / finish is on par with the previous $400 Charmglow (home depot house brand, I think) that I bought about 18 years prior. The Weber does use thicker steel and gets a bit hotter than the Charmglow did, but other than that, it's just bells and whistles that don't really mean too much.
The Weber looked way worse after just the first year than the Charmglow did after nearly 20 years of use. The all plastic burner knobs are discoloring, and have mildew looking spots all over them, and some have broken (rounded out or split the d-shape hole that slides over the posts that control the burners.) While Weber did replace the knobs under warranty, with no questions asked, it's still a shit design with poor materials that will surely break again after the warranty has expired. Additionally, one of the 4 burners stopped lighting. I have to light the others first, then turn the gas on to the one that won't light and close the lid until I hear the "whomp" sound of the excess gas igniting.
After my disappointment in this Weber, I've learned that there are much better value grills to be had.

I considered a 2-burner vs 3-burner model and I ended up getting a 3-burner. No regrets.
to really sear well, you want to sear on one side and flip the steaks to the other side that has not been covered by the food. I can fit 4 big rib eye steak pieces in half of the cooking area and flip to the other side.
I can fit a 7-8 lb brisket in half of the cooking area, and just turn on the right side burner for indirect cooking with some wood chips for smoking flavor.
Even a 3-burner is not spacious enough if you wana grill meat on one side and veggies on the other side to entertain guests of more than 4 people in addition to your family. I compromise by roasting the veggies in the oven instead.

My 310 is 20 years old and still looks new (except the grill bars - seasoning fixes that though)

Weber is not what it was 17yrs ago.
I was checking out this newly remodeled Spirit and was pretty disappointed by the construction of it. It feels a lot cheaper than their previous model. Which is a crying shame considering what the Weber name used to symbolize. Yeah it would cost more, but it would also last at least twice as long.

Maybe they are making them cheaper now. I have a 15 year old Weber Spirit on my open deck in pretty high humidity and haven't got one speck of rust on or in the cabinet. Also USAF-Retired :-)

My parents have a Spirit that's over 20 years old (I believe it's from 2002, possibly 2001). It's still in very good shape. They have replaced the burners and flavorizer bars twice and the grates once and are considering refurbishing everything again this year, but the grill and cabinet are still in great shape.

FWIW, it probably sees an average use of ~2x a week (3-4x through grilling season). They do scrub it down after every use and give it a thorough cleaning a few times a year. It stays covered when not in use and under their covered patio. They're in the southeast in an area that averages ~70-75% humidity.

Anyone have any feedback on the wheels? They look cheap and plastic and I have to move mine away from the house before use so the wheels get lots of wear.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm curious—since the updated Spirit E-325 is $499 on the Weber site, wouldn't it be a better deal for just $50 more, considering it's a newer model?

I like the side burner on the Costco unit as well as the return policy.

From what I can tell the E-325 has a smaller grill area compared to the E-315. It's essentially similar in size to the 2 burner (E-215), but equipped with 3 burners instead. The E-325 side tables do fold down tho

We have Spirit E-210 from Home Depot sale back in 2010. Replaced the cheapo porcelain gates on it with cast iron 7522's as soon as we bought it. It held up strong for 15 years, being cooked on 9-10 months of the year.

Did everything -- griddle, smoker box, served parties of 25+ people on the regular, going for half a day, etc. The only parts that actually gave our on it were the igniter and the flavorizer bars, but we just lit it with a wand lighter and replaced the bars once. Eventually, most of the internals rusted but it soldiered on and heated evenly. Last thunderstorm knocked it over and broke the frame so it's time to let it go as the replacement parts from Weber are not available and would cost almost as much as the new grill. If this E315 lasts 15 years I'm happy.
