Honest question, why would I spend $32 on this when I can go to Lowe's and get the same thing from Irwin for $13?

If you're using it once a year, go ahead and get the Irwin.

If you're using it every day, you may want to get better quality tools. Reviews for USA made Malco are very high.

You get what you pay for. If you want a low price, instead of the Irwins, I would get the Kobalt since they would be easy to replace under warranty.

These are also limited in supply as the factory shut down https://toolguyd.com/malco-eagle-...al-update/

I bought several from here 2 years ago https://www.harryepstein.com/collections/malco and they have some models left.

There is a video explaining the differences between the cheaper brands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8O0WBJQjBQ

These are easily the best locking pliers around bar none.

They look like jewelry in the drawer l, have no flex in the jaw, jaws are very hard and the chrome is superior.

Grab them while you can as they aren't being manufactured any longer.

I have a few of these in various configs. They are the first locking pliers I grab unless I am welding or doing something nasty then I grab the Irwin's.

You've got a lot to learn if you think Irwins are the "same thing" as a pair of Malco's.
Why say that when it's obvious you've never even held a pair of Malco's?

Snap on bought the factory so these are actually still getting made with their name. They charge over twice the price of course though.

Because the Irwins are definitely not the same thing, if quality matters at all. Irwin does a decent job for the value by using cheap steel, but a lot of it, although the performance isn't nearly the same.

I heard rumor of that, but hadn't seen any confirmation. Just checked and you're absolutely right.

I have a welding business for the last 25 years and use Erwin tools every single day with no problem I would buy the Erwin

This is why it's pointless to ask 'tool people' questions.

Quality is subjective and doesn't mean anything.
Are these pliers durable ? Made of better materials? Do they work better?

It's a tool. You shouldn't care these look like jewelery. Yo should care how they perform.
