I have been using these for years. They work really well. Early on, I lost a couple when the adhesive came loose (or it got knocked off when the bin was dumped into the truck). I drilled a couple small holes in the bin lid and now loop a zip-tie through to hold it. Never lost another one.

These have always worked well for me, except the adhesive needs to be stronger. Generally put this on with a heavy duty velcro strip which makes it stay.

My trash can is inside a big storage bin. Would this be effective if attached to the storage bin that the trash can is within, or does it have to be inside the trash can lid? I don't think it would stay secure enough to handle the trash truck arm tipping and plopping down the can over and over.

Agree with the adhesive. I lost two of them because they just fall off. Kept them under the lid, and when the garbage was picked up, it got dumped too. Just be sure to use something other to stick it on. What they give doesn't hold.

Yeah, I've heard good things about them on Youtube and reddit. I'll give this a try; thanks OP.

Thanks for the Velcro tip as well; I've got plenty of the tape [amazon.com] and it's super strong so it should work well; rep given.

Fun story while I contemplate buying one of these. We ran into a big maggot issue last year. Even though I pick up my dogs poop with plastic bags and tie them up in a knot those little suckers must eat through it (silly me getting the biodegradable ones). Then one day I noticed the maggot problem gone and found a couple of lizards taking up residency on my cans. Problem solved. Not sure I want to count on them to keep the maggots away though cause it was nast before they showed up and they might not be around forever...

Ha, sounds like those lizards found their Shangri-La—stinky as it may be. I've had good luck spraying down my trash barrels inside and out with white distilled vinegar. It works so well that I'm contemplating canceling my order, as 30% off isn't up to my Cheap Basterd standards.

Overall, I've heard nothing but good things about Terro T800s though. They seem to be a highly effective and decent product, which is unusual for Terro, in my opinion.

Not to unnecessarily trash the company, but in my experience, their ant and termite products are overpriced and not very effective. Taurus SC [domyown.com] is far superior to Terro's ant/termite killer and is cheaper over time. A single bottle of Taurus SC will last about five years for treating the perimeter of a 1,500 sq. ft. home. Just respect Taurus SC power though and don't go crazy with it...

I bought one of these to control flies in our rolling bins while in our attached garage. They don't stick well at all and keep falling off. And I still saw maggots when it was double-stuck on. Actually had never seen maggots in our trash before. Waste of money.

I've been using these twice a year. I drill a hole in them and use a screw to hold it to lid. Never use the tape, it will fall off. Highly recommended! No more bugs !!!

Just vinegar? Man, I was spraying down the inside with bleach trying to choke those farkers out and they just kept coming. I'll give vinegar a try.
