Its weird, but not getting free shipping kills the deal for me. I am use to getting free shipping for majority of products, so when I see 8 dollars minimum i think, do I really need it.
Being in construction and having wore about every brand of boot, if you're thinking you may need a wide boot definitely get a wide with the Wolverine brand as they run thin on the width. A wide Wolverine is about like a standard width Keen, little wider. No brand of boot holds up like they used to and Wolverine is no different. I bought 2 pairs imagine I'll get 1-1.5 years out of both and for the price here I'm perfectly fine with that.

How to get 20% off as a new customer. This worked for me but YMMV.

When you see the 15% offer for new customers, provide an email address but just stop when prompted to provide your phone number. Wait 30 mins and check your email.

With the posted coupon code and the 20% coupon, I paid $48 total, including the $8 for shipping. I don't personally mind paying the $8 for shipping considering the 20% off stacks and takes care of the shipping cost, feels like a great deal to me!

Thank you OP!

Yes, and it wasn't that long ago. I gave in two years ago and got some Timberline Pro boots and didn't get a year out of them and they were almost $300. Anymore I'll always look for deals on this site and buy rather I need them or not and worse case scenario $100 is my limit as all brands are junk with their glued in soles and stitching that comes out. Keen hands down is the biggest fall from grace. 3 months and the stitching was out on the front side.

I've done commercial HVAC for over 20 years and what's happened to the boot industry is just plain sad. They're all junk anymore.

Off topic but any general recommendations for a non construction person who just wants some light foot protection? Regular weekend warrior but I thought it might be worth it to invest in a pair because there's a ton of construction zones at my work (they've been putting in large data centers and redoing the layout for our campus ever since I started).

How are these in terms of being water proof or resistant?

I've been using a pair of these in steel toe for the last 2 months. They've been great. No issues with leaks or wet socks, even when trudging through a house with 3 inches of standing water.

edit: these boots are not waterproof. My boots are the Floorhand LX and are waterproof

Get the steel toe. You'll thank yourself later when you burn the tip of your boots when doing a 'super quick stick weld' like I did.

Get the steel toe. The moment you drop a server on your boots you'll be glad you did.

Agreed. In my welding days I ran through 4 pair of Wolverine, the best was buying .5 over my shoe size and steel toe.

TLDR Get other boots
Wolverine boots are typically water proof to the tongue but they have a low tongue. I would select a different brand for waterproof and/or hiking boots. I love Wolverine but they exist for idiots like me dropping metal on my toes, not for hiking or water walking / water prooof

That is about the average that I would get out of my boots in construction. Typical price was in the $100-150 range. Mine would usually start getting holes.
Check out Rose Anvil on Youtube. His boot reviews are pretty awesome. He cuts them in half and shows you how they are constructed. I think the top steel toed boots are like $350, but last forever.

What about red wings? The ones still made in America.
