Tried buying this but returned it. It's a lot deeper than prior models, but have the same size filter - Just more bulk. We didn't feel we could make it work in our rooms.

We ended up buying another C535 from Winix directly for even cheaper.

I wonder what the extra bulk is for, got to be a reason other than marketing...

I have speculation but the fan blades may be much larger meaning it can move more air at slower speeds, meaning it would be a quieter unit.

I'll buy one and check it out.

Trying to figure out why this is so deep myself. I got a Winix 5500-2 off Amazon for $160 last year and is CADR rated for 360sq-ft and that is less than 8" deep.

This is twice as deep basically at over 16" and is CADR rated for basically the same room size?

Wondering what gives here, I would think it has to cycle more air being much deeper at least, and is WIFI compared to my "dumb" 5500-2. I think my biggest regret of the 5500-2 is that there's no child lock feature and our 21 mo old has to touch it every morning they come into our room....

Got a Winix C610 for living room and that is also WIFI and has a child lock feature which is great with the kid. Was $100 as well on sale at costco (back up to $130 now).

I have this purifier and find it works great. WiFi connection and good air delivery. Slightly on the bigger side - maybe 25% bigger than the C545.

The price of around $150-160 is fair for CADR of 350 range and this is a quality apparatus

I too have this and it works great. Very rare humming sound develops which is solved with a literal flick to the plastic cover portion. Wifi works. Good ratings.

Turned my Plasmawave off (soft) vs. doing the hardware.

I have 2 of these units and they are awesome. They have been very quiet and most importantly, have NOT developed that annoying whirring sound that ALL of my other lower end Winix units have developed causing me to have to get rid of them. I may buy another as well for other rooms to replace older models.

These are by far my favorite air purifiers, and it's hard for me to pass up seeing this deal pop up again on Slickdeals..

I'm a fan of the Coway Airmega 200M / AP-1512 models, and I've tried a large variety. I also have several CR boxes.

Other Winix models I've had, like the 5500-2, are not nearly as well rounded as this version. The WiFi & app options alone make it worth it, but I've also had issues with other Winix models making a noise after a while and become intolerable.

I have purchased about 5 or 6 of these over the years and have had zero issues.

I'd recommend this air purifier to absolutely anyone

Anyway, just my 2¢

How is it for keeping the dust level down?

Hmm I mean, as good as any other air purifier with the same CADR and intake location, I guess.

However, I turn off the "PlasmaWave" function, as these types of functionalities added to air purifiers usually generate ozone and are harmful to respiratory health. But I think it's the case that these features may also help with dust collection?

Anyway, I mention that so that you can take my neutral assessment with a grain of salt (i.e. if you enable PlasmaWave, maybe you get more dust collection)

So ya, sorry, I don't have a good answer for you. But I think it helps a good deal with dust.

I own 3 C545's, one for each bedroom, but might buy this for one for the basement as it is rather large.

It looks like the C909 can move more air versus the 500 series units.

From winixamerica.com:

C909:
AHAM Verifide® at 500 sq ft. : Also cleans rooms up to 2,420 sq ft in 1 hour (1,210 sq ft in 30 minutes, 807 sq ft in 20 minutes, 605 sq ft in 15 minutes)

C535 & C545 have the same stats:
AHAM Verifide® at 360 sq ft. : Also cleans rooms up to 1,740 sq ft in 1 hour (870 sq ft in 30 minutes, 580 sq ft in 20 minutes, 435 sq ft in 15 minutes)

FYI winixamerica.com has the C909 refurbished at $120, but out of stock and only includes one set of filters. Costco's C909 deal includes 2 sets:

Can you guys feel or sense that it's giving you a value?

Stayed for 2 weeks in a house that had a few of these and wasn't sure if it made any difference.

What's the community's thoughts on these air purifiers and microplastic shedding?
I just saw the one article and did a little reading; maybe the article is fear mongering but am considering this unit just to be safe. It's a bit creepy on the timing because I was just looking for an air filtering type fan/unit. This is an Air PURIFIER so even better! Slickdeals is home to a lot of resident experts. Will be in for one as soon as I get the community's blessing!
