This book is fantastic. I find it so much easier to follow historical events by visualizing where they took place. Migration, conquest, or other displacement events occur in locations which is best told in a map. Not sure how it is on ebook, hardcopy was very well done.

From an Amazon 3-Star review of the Kindle edition:

"One seriously annoying point – the print book was obviously much larger than a Kindle, and it was converted to digital with no adjustment. The print is only medium dark, and too small to read on my tablet, so to read I must tediously zoom in and move around on each page. This means that it will take me much longer than usual to read the book, and I will be continually annoyed. "

While still not always as fully immersive as a giant sized paper copy, for books like this I keep a 16" Chromebook with touchscreen & 360 hinge.
It works great for things that are best in a larger format including magazines, art, coffee table books and books like this collection of maps.
At the very least grab a full sized iPad or 11+ inch Android tablet.
Sometimes I put materials up on a TV or large computers monitor.
Read your magazines or page through some Andy Goldsworthy on a 60" tv.

Dimensions of the physical book says 10x12. I am thinking it won't be too bad on an ipad or larger fire tablet for $2 no rush credits.

just tested on a 10.9 ipad and it shows 7.5h x 6w by default portrait mode and very readable. Landscape puts 2 pages side by side and is a little hard to read but easily zoomed.

The upside is in Kindle version if you're stuck on a long trip or something you can browse wherever you are and pass some time. The other upside is it's two dollars and it adds no clutter to your house.
