Thanks, OP....It's not a bad concept, but this product is pretty obtrusive. The "kit" also includes only one set. They promote this as being useful for speakers, and yet it includes only one? I suppose that, at $7.49 it's not too outrageous, but imagine needing multiples of these and paying $18 or more for only one? They should at least offer them separately at a reduced price. How many duplicate sets of hardware does one need (if they need to use these in multiple locations)? It's not a very well thought out product in certain respects (at least IMHO). At least you'll have a laugh when you swipe through the photos. "Invisible cables"? "Not a cable in sight"? Who are they kidding?....oh, perhaps it's themselves!🙄

But, but, my case is super specific and I MUST run an extension cord in the wall!

The right way to do it (check local codes, I'm not a professional, etc.) is to have a male outlet on one end, female (normal) outlet on the other end, romex in between. That way the wire actually running in the walls is the correct kind. There is a legit reason why you can't have regular power cords running through walls. I personally used this setup to power a ceiling mounted projector via a UPS that was in a closet. Short (and decent gauge) extension cord running from the UPS to the male outlet, wall mounted receptacle that the projector plugged into. Worked great, no need for a heavy UPS to be mounted next to the projector possibly falling on someone's head causing severe trauma.

This is definitely one of those products that look really useful in theory.

But in actuality it's beyond a pain to set up and the quality of the plastic shows every scuff mark.

Sticking with standard parts like a low-voltage cut-in box and pass-through plate is usually the way to go. It keeps things simple for the future; just use a standard blank if you remove the hardware. You get the same function as this "fancier" proprietary options, but without the potential hassle or cost if you need to change or remove things later. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Carlo.../100160916

Yeah this is wild to me. I also think the hole it is creating is unnecessarily large. My normal go to is just a blank plate from HD and drill hole into it for size of wire. if you want to do similar concept to this, get the box for finished walls and put blank plate on top of it.

I have a couple of Amazon Echo Hubs and have used grommets like this and they work perfectly. Hole saw takes the plug out pefectly also, very little mess.

Not true....but they must have "UL" certifications....and this isn't intended for "extention cords".

The large hole would only make sense for multiple cables. They're showing it with one stupid cable and a humongous hole! Ridiculous!
