I'm no expert, but everyone I talked to building my AM5 recommended CL30 RAM over CL36.

Exactly. That RAM Is a terrible choice paired with a 9800X3D.

I mean yes lower CL numbers are always better, but also more expensive. There is never a reason not to get lower latency ram if your wallet can afford it.

Some do but Slick Deals wants that sweet sweet affiliate money on each deal you buy.

Going to need a cooler as well, unless you're upgrading an older AM4/AM5 system.

Terrible in what way? Like If I only use the pc for gaming, what's it going to do the fps?

Absolutely nothing outside of synthetic benchmarks.

Even in tasks where there are real tangible gains (most of which aren't related to gaming), you're talking about very fractional differences.

Some of these guys just watch way too much LTT and think they need everything the reviewers recommend to get any enjoyment out of it, not remembering the fact that the reviewers aren't spending their own hard earned cash on anything.

If you've already upgraded everything else that would be more impactful and you don't mind spending more, by all means, get the best RAM you can afford.

But I definitely wouldn't put it at the top of the list when budgeting.
