The sad part of Atari is that the fact of the matter is that the games really do not hold up beyond say, pong. The version in your mind is so much better than reality. NES holds up quite a bit better, SNES holds up incredibly well and sometimes better than you remember.
agreed. as a kid when we did not have alternatives, these were fun because thats all we had, in this day, and age you won't be able to stand any of these Atari games for more than 30 seconds.

it's like watching some of our beloved 80s cartoons in our 40s.
I miss the 400. It's where I learned how to code programs and the subtle inner workings of a light water nuclear reactor at the age of 8.

Oh, the fun I had with my old 800XL and 3rd party disk drive (that held a WHOPPING 88KB!) back in the 80s! Me and my buds would get together and play MULE for hours ...

Same here but on the 800 dad didn't like membrane keyboards. But it was fun to learn what SCRAM meant.

OMG, the reactor simulator game.... I totally forgot about that piece of beautiful software. So much fun preventing meltdowns.... so much fun causing meltdowns.... good times!
I had the Atari 800 and learned to program in BASIC with that. I fondly remember quickly running out of memory with only 48k on the 800.

Idk, I never played NES as a kid, so there's no nostalgia for me. All the games I played on emulator were not particularly fun, with difficulty being primarily from bad play controls or requiring memorizing levels. SNES games I still enjoy today.
Tetris, Super Mario bros 2-3.

Who is even the demo for this? Anyone who even knows what this is has long since been lost and forgotten to time in some nursing home
I hope that's sarcasm.

Had an Atari 400 computer lab in middle school in 1984. Great class.

What?!! Couldn't disagree more. River Raid, Meganania, Super Breakout, Defender, shoot even Ms Pac and Pitfall (so many others), all bangers.
Ridiculously dismissive take on a truly iconic brand.
The only problem I'm seeing here is they only include 25 games, then you have to get other roms on your own. At that point you might as well just emulate.
