Did some research on this monitor, watch YouTube review here.
https://youtu.be/dJ95Dyw_9iA?si=-qNOcbOqv0Wr88YZ

Some negatives I saw in the youtube comments:

-The fact that its matte and not glossy should be considered a crime.

-Something worth mentioning. This monitor is not full DP 2.1. It's UHBR13.5 instead of UHBR20. Meaning it doesn't have the bandwidth to run this monitor natively and will still be using DSC. It's a shame considering how expensive this thing is. But also like to mention. DSC vs native is very little loss in image quality, you really have to sit there and nit-pick everything. In the end, it's a beauty. I just wish LG didn't cheap out on us with the DP and it was glossy.

-There are different certifications of dp 2.1. There are Dp 2.1 UHBR 10(40gbps), Dp 2.1 UHBR 13.5(54gbps), and Dp 2.1 UHBR 20(80 gbps). LG confirmed with TFT central that it's using Dp 2.1 UHBR 13.5. To run this monitor without any compression at 5120x2160 @ 165hz, you need 60.18 Gbps. So ultimately, UHBR 13.5 doesn't have enough bandwidth to run this at native so it has to use DSC. I'm just giving you guys facts so you can make the right knowledgeable purchase. Up to you guys how you want to take the information.

-You should be getting full DP 2.1 bandwidth at this price point. Nevermind that, if you drop that kind of money on a monitor, you want it to be substantially "future proofed." Hard pass. I'll wait for the smaller models with full UHBR 20 support.
Are you sure you're not confusing this with the older 3440x1440 models? This is the 5120x2160 model that just released two weeks ago, I use it for full time software development and find the text legibility good and better than on my OLED G9.
Did you have this new one? It was just released like a couple weeks ago. If so, concerning that text would still be blurry on a 5k2k monitor.

Does LG allow free returns if you're not happy with it?

Depends on how long you want to fight them. If you do local store pick up at like best buy you still have to go through the LG website and support options. A better option to trial would be to try to price match at like best buy since they give a 14 day return policy/60 days if you have the total tech membership

Ah, didn't know BB would even match on something like this. Might give that a shot.

I briefly had this monitor, it was awful with work, but great for gaming. Text was especially blurry. Returning to LG was a hassle.

Curious, if it was a bad quality piece or really this LG monitor version is not good?

Ugh I can't stand the aggressive curve. 800R is too much for me. I prefer 1800R or 1900R for 21:9 ultrawide. LG insists on putting 800R curve on all these newer UW monitors.

This seems very unlikely. You are probably confusing this with the older 1440p version.

You can also get cash back with AMEX and $250 Capital One Shopping Rewards. I've had this monitor about a week and am 50/50 on it. It's amazing for web browsing and very immersive for gaming, especially FPS. The biggest downside is that it's a matte screen, which I think still looks great in game but very bright spots in game or white windows/browser pages look fuzzy. Not as bright as I'm used to either. The best thing about this is the size/curve and ultrawide. Not sure if I'll return it or not. I'm mostly happy with it but idk if I am enough for the price. I may go back to my C2 42" until something better comes out or I might stick it out with this and then upgrade in 2 years or so.

Pretty sure you are thinking of the older model. I just got mine the other day and its amazing for both work and gaming. This just came out a few weeks ago.

Tbh I was worried about the curve coming from the OLED G9 but I found that at 45" I actually prefer the 800R curve. Might be worth giving it a chance if you can.
