The latest firmware killed any chance at real time or close to real time monitoring.

AirThings support is unhelpful and just keeps referring to their new app, when their older app is still available and works much better.

If you want smart features, get the Wave Plus.

But after dealing with their support, I'd try a different brand all together.
noticed these a few days ago - judging by the stock numbers, i'm expecting these to be discoumted again - like half this or even lower.

While this will integrate with Home Assistant, it comes with some caveats:

"While this integration works without an Airthings SmartLink hub, using one will provide live updates to your sensor data. Without a hub, you'll need to rely on the Airthings mobile app to sync data over Bluetooth and upload it to the cloud."

For those interested, I did some research on this when it was priced at a discount earlier in the past year. You can find better prices out there both new and used, and of different Airthings models. Both should work well. Interesting tech.

This particular model comes in two flavors.

One is a Home Depot exclusive that comes in a blister pack, but is regularly on sale on eBay for under $50.

AirThings claims they will not provide warranty for the Home Depot model without proof that it was purchased from Home Depot.

So it really depends on whether the warranty matters to you.

I've had the wave mini for a few years now, and the bluetooth sync is kind of annoying - Is it difficult to pick up your phone, go near it, and sync up with it? Not really, but any device like this should have manual, readable data on a screen without having to sync. I like that this radon detector has a color system (green for good), but you are probably going to want to get the hub for this, or spend more for the Wave Plus.

If you don't want to deal with their app or cloud, just use the BLE integration for Home Assistant: https://www.home-assistant.io/int...ings_ble/ I have one and have never registered it or even downloaded the app. Works fine, except it eats batteries monthly. I've been using rechargeable AAs for the last month and seems ok so far.

No kidding, two out of five stores here have 28 and 38... Stores don't even have that many of any given Ryobi power tool in stock...

There's a reason for that. These units are notoriously unreliable. Technicians recommend the Corentium Home Radon Detector if you plan to do this at home. It's basically as good as it gets short of getting the professional grade detectors.

I bought the Corentium to validate the results from the Wave and after cross checking with other brands in addition to doing a mail-in test, I don't recommend going with AirThings at all anymore.

Results can be severely skewed by something as simple as a change in humidity. Anytime the central air was on, the numbers would spike as if radon was being pumped in.

The numbers it reports don't coincide at all with the EPA estimates for the area and would make someone in the Midwest want to install a second mitigation kit.

Right, none of these are perfect, but the Corentium Home is supposed to be the best you can get before you get to the professional grade stuff, and it beats sending charcoal in a couple of times per year.
