Worst cpu I've ever owned I've had to RMA it twice. Probably will need to a third time. I feel like Intel either can't find the issue or they are just sending out defectives on purpose.
I'd get the 14700k over this (which is $299 at MIcrocenter). Nearly identical in benchmarks, and I'd think probably less chance of DOA or oxidation- just remember to update to the latest Bios.

And if you're gonna get the 14700K, you might as well get the 14600K, which is $190 at Microcenter and around $200 most other places.

Yeah I just returned my 12700kf ($150) and am hoping my MC get the 14600k back in stock (OOS right now). But also debating whether to get the 14600k or wait for another sale on the 14700k. There is a pretty good jump between the 14600k and 14700k.
While I don't expect to see that $210 "gone in a minute midnight flash sale "of the 14700k, for $250-$270, I' might go for it over the 14600k.
For those interested, Tom's hardware has a nice article with charts comparing game and productivity scores of 13th and 14th gen intel (and AMD). Good start for making price/performance decisions. https://www.tomshardware.com/news...cpu-review

yeah I just replaced my 2-week-old 12600K with the 14600K deal..lol yeah that 14700K deal was live at like 3am and gone instantly lol
Tuning this thing was such a hassle over the years. Did it right out of the box in 2022 before the massive issues were publicized and Bios micro codes got updated. I suggest everyone who are interested in this set up their bios similar to this ASAP or risk cooking the chip.
