I have the Instinct Solar 1 and use it for MTB all the time, I love it. I pair it with my bike computer to track my heart rate while I ride. I love the simple interface and no touch screen. Once you figure out the buttons it's very intuitive. I recommend upgrading to the solar edition to get even better battery life, especially if you are outside a lot.

Ha! Or if you want to have a normal sized watch on your wrist, this is a great choice. As a 6'2 male with an athletic build, the watch is perfect for mountain biking. I've had the Instinct 2s since it was released and with 100+ days of riding each year, I can say this watch has been put through the paces and is extremely durable. I also love the 's' because I never have any accidental button presses like my riding buddies with their massive, Scuba Steve sized watches

Got one when around this price in December. Love mine but if doing again probably would get Instinct Solar as a round of golf takes 15-20% of battery off for 18 holes.

I have an Instinct 2S Solar and the solar charging can't really keep up if you're doing activity tracking involving GPS. The "UltraTrac" setting might improve battery life at the cost of accuracy.
That said, mine saved me from getting lost while hiking and has been worth every penny.

I hate mine, the HR tracker is completely useless. Ill go for an all out sprint and it says my HR is 70, then when i'm on the couch it will say its 165+

I have the Instinct 2. It is a fitness watch with some smart features. Keep that in mind and you will not set yourself up for possible disappointment.

The Instinct 3 just came out a couple of months ago. I did not see any new features that would entice me to upgrade at the higher cost of the Instinct 3.

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you just want to record your routes (and your routes aren't too long), then a Garmin watch may be fine. If you want to view your speed and route map while you are riding, then a bike computer on your handlebars will work better.
